Modifying wait list without losing your place in the wait list line?

Does anyone know of a way to modify a wait list so as not to lose your place in the wait list queue?

A few months ago we decided to extend our trip by two days but there was no room at the inn. The CM created one wait list for both nights. I called member services today and asked if I could separate the nights into two wait lists without being knocked to the bottom of the queue but he couldn't think of a way to do it.

Does anyone know of a way it could be done. I can't think of any so I thought I would ask the experts.

I don't think you are allowed to separately waitlist consecutive nights.

From the waitlist rules:

3) All requests must represent the entire length of time desired in the requested accommodation type. Wait List requests must be for consecutive days of a stay and may not be submitted as multiple or “night-by-night” requests

DebbieB. Thanks for your quick reply! That's interesting as the CM didn't mention that rule to me. As I said, he told me I could separate the days into two wait lists and move to the bottom of the queue.

I think I'll call back and try my luck with a different CM and move to the bottom of the queue. I'll cancel my wait list for the second night if CM says I can't wait list two consecutive nights. Thanks again.

I've found some CM's will do the nights separately if that will be your two allowed waitlists and other's won't. But you go to the bottom.

What I did was put myself on the waitlist for the 2 BR at BLT in a bay lake view category but today I called to see if ANY view and ANY size rooms were avilable for any of the 3 days I was looking for. Lo and behold the first of my 3 days had an opening in the MK view. If I was going to get one night, that as the best one I could have gotten from my perspective. SO. I dropped the AKV one for that date and they modified the waitlist to be only the 2 days after the one I have. She mentioned what she was doing but I didn't follow. I dont think it mattered that I did. She knew what she was doing more than the other 2 MS people I spoke to in teh alst week. ;) I don't know if I lost place or anything but she did encourage me to call back weekly as openings happen "all the time". I would have thought she would have warned me of that if it was the case. We're going in Nov.

I really wish you could wait list for 2 different views but unless you really care about a lock off or not. Oh vell.
good luck! :flower3:
