Modifying reservation by removing days

I was about to book VGC for April 13th and realize my days are off. What’s to prevent someone from booking April 11th (7 months today) and then modifying the reservation?

If I understand what you're asking, not too much. Some people do an even more extreme version of this this intentionally and it's called "walking" a reservation.

The main thing that would prevent someone from doing this is you need the points. In your case, you need the points for your April 13th vacation, and the nights of the 11 and 12th. If you need to borrow points to make that happen, they may get stuck in this use year. Or you may not have the points at all.

That makes sense. I have plenty of points. I was all sorted on VGC but noticed VDL weaker point chart might be worth taking a shot and doing wait list

Have you considered the ToT at the VDH? It's huge, while taxes are included at VGC, it's much better value to stay there if you can get a reservation.
