Modifying rental car reservation, will it change my rate?

Our flight has changed and we will be picking up our car (L&M) 2+ hours later and bringing it back 2+ hours earlier. We have a good rate at present and the total rental days remain unchanged. Should I try and modify the reservation to reflect the changes (so they know when to expect us) or will I end up paying "today's" rate which is about $200 more. Appreciate your help.

Your changes shouldn't have an effect on your rate. Having said that, we all know how whacky these car rental companies are sometimes.

You didn't mention which company you are dealing with. I know with National you can change your rental parameters online and view the rate change, if any, before finalizing the change. I don't know about the other companies' sites.

You might want to try making a completely new reservation to see what your rate is. If you're happy with the rate, accept it and cancel the old reservation.

I would call them and ask to be sure. I would hate for you to try and change that and have your rate change too. These car rental places are wishy washy. I mean their rates change every hour sometimes. And for the past few days I have been putting in 2 differnet codes and one was always cheaper then the other until today whenit was reversed. You just never know with them.
