Modifying a resort reservation online?

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, but I did a search and couldn’t find an answer.

For the past week I’ve been trying to add a day to our fall trip online. I’ve tried both the app and website and both have a message to call to modify or cancel an existing reservation. I know that in the past I’ve been able to modify resort reservations online. Is this something new, or just temporary? I hate to call and be put on hold indefinitely for something I should be able to do online. Thanks!

Likely you will have to call in. It should be online, but with that type of modification, unless the icon is there to allow you to modify the dates, you will have to call. Disney's reservation system is lackluster on the user side, but giving the reservations line for this type of modification is what you'll have to do. Fingers crossed for a short wait!

Yeah, some just can’t be modified online (and it’s annoying). Was your reservation a bounce back or some other kind of unique discount?

What I have found is that I could modify my reservation online to change resorts or tickets, but to change dates/add a day I either had to call or cancel the current reservation and re-book for the new dates.

I was able to modify my stay for June. I believe I hit change reservation and then changed my dates and it allowed me to do so. I don't remember cancelling my original ressie, but maybe I did. I might have cancelled now that I think about it, because I remember opening another tab to check to make sure dates were open for the following week.

Who knows when it comes to Disney IT. When I wanted to add a night on for my Oct stay, I tried to do it online by clicking on change reservation, but it told me I had to call in the change dates section. But it happily let me change other things. Of course I waited a day to make sure I had everything I needed to cancel and re-book but then could not find the entire 7 night stay i wanted anymore. I could book 2 nights and the next 5 nights but i could not book my stay as one reservation even though the same room type was showing available for the split 2 night/5night separate reservations. I am sure whatever program they use makes sense in the hotel booking world, but at times it is the most irritating and irrational thing.

Even things I should be able to do easily online (add 1 day to our park ticket in our package) I still had to call because Disney's website never works correctly. You'd think with the money they bring in they could get a website that works at least 80% of the time, but nope!

Thanks all! I just hate having to call for something I should be able to do online. I booked it online a couple months ago, so there ‘s nothing special about the reservation...

Probably over-used advice, but have you tried clearing cookies, using a different browser, and/or using private browsing / incognito pages? That will sometimes clear up website irregularities for me.

I’ve tried on multiple devices - phone, ipad, laptop and no go. So I finally broke down and called - when I got through they said their system was undergoing maintenance at this time and they couldn’t modify my reservation and I would have to call back! Argggh!!!. It’s a good thing I love Disney so much!

When I tried to add and extra day, I had to call, when I talked to the CM, I was told that the discount package I used was no longer available, thus the reason I could not make adjustments. She was able to add what I wanted and made some adjustments so it did not really add that much, go ahead and call as they will def help you and may have some better deals avail......who knows
