Modifying a reservation while holding another

We have decided to extend our March trip and I am in the process of piecing together the last few days. I currently have 1 night at the Swan followed by 2 nights at the Beach Club and the last night at the Boardwalk. I have been searching a few times a day and have a waitlist for more nights at the Beach Club.

If I do see something available when I search that would work better for us do I hold it while going in through another window or browser to cancel the other so I won't lose it or is that too risky? I do not want to borrow more points so would rather replace with the cancelled reservation's points.

Just go in to the ones you have and modify before searching. Then it will replace.

Just remember, if you are within 31 days of the start date, any points will go into holding if you modify and it’s less points.

You definitely don’t want to book something additonal and then cancel as that would also trigger holding unless you are still more than 31 days away.

Thank you.! A couple of questions. If I start modifying but don't go through it no one else has the ability to take my current reservation?
Also, can I search for multiple days or just the one day I am modifying?

You can try and modify all you want as long as you don’t confirm it on the last page the reservation remains as is.

But if I need to cancel the other nights at the other resorts to get enough points I assume I would need to do another search to modify? For instance if all four nights showed up at the Beach Club or the Boardwalk (will never happen but you never know! ) It makes me nervous as I know they get taken as soon as they show availability.

If you don’t have enough points available when you modify you current reservation, you would need to cancel another reservation or borrow points to ensure you have enough points to cover the modified reservation. If you need to cancel a reservation you should have done that prior to modifying.

Ok... thanks! I'm glad we get to have a few extra days at Disney so I'll just be happy with what I get.
