Modify Trip to Avoid Holding

I am thinking of ways to be able to book LL’s for a whole trip while doing a split stay.

Is it possible to do a dummy reservation at SSR or OKW for the entire length of stay that runs congruent to your split stay, book LL’s for the whole trip 7-days out, and then modify the dummy reservation to a future date that is outside the holding period threshold of 31 days so it can be canceled?

Nope. Any modifications within 31 days results in holding.

But, the 7 day window for LL works over a split stay, as long as your ticket goes thst long.

Once the window opens, you can book for up to 14 days or the length of ticket…which ever is less

I did this in August…had a one night and then 3 night trip…booked everything starting with first window.

As RunTheMouse said, advanced booking of lightning lanes covers your whole stay, even if a split. It's not like dining.

Our LL booking window covered our split stay. I can’t remember if it went all the way to 14 days but I’m certain it went to 10. We had 4 reservations in that 10 days. We have an AP.
Ok, I want to zero in on this.

Me and our 2 boys have 7-day tickets, but my wife has an AP.

You are saying that even though we have a split stay we can book reservations for length of stay across all of our hotels as long as we have park reservations on those days?

Yes. 7 days from the start of the trip you can book for everyone even if it is a split stay. We did this in December and booked recently for a stay starting 1/27 with split stays

Go into your app and try to book the first day of the trip (or the first day when everyone's tickets start) now, even though it is more than 7 days ahead. It should tell you when everyone is eligible to book

Ok. Another follow up.

Can my wife and I both be logged into her MDE profile at the same time on our iPhones to try and book out different days?

We are going through a process of attraction prioritization and then working backwards to which days to book out first.

Not sure if you can both be logged into her account, but my wife and I were each on our own accounts booking different days that morning. You could try it with one account booking for different days, but I would try with 2 different accounts if you are able as that definitely works. I'm not sure how the system will see 2 logins on the same account working at once. It may work though, if someone else has tried it recently

If you have an account but just don't want to ride I think you should be able to just select everyone else for that day besides yourself and purchase for them.

Our strategy was I used my account and my husband used his to book the LL = we both have APs. We each had assigned days/rides to do so we weren’t interfering with each other. I think we booked the whole 9 day trip in about 5 minutes. That said we are used to working in tandem - we split assignments for ADRs too so we’re pretty efficient.

Ok, so the non-primary planner can still book LL’s for the whole family?

I believe so, as long as everyone is on the reservation, and is eligible with tickets and linked in the family/friends in the app.

Eg. I can deselect myself when booking and just buy a pass for everyone else in my party right now for my trip 1/27-2/2
(But I won't, cause I ain't missin' no rides! 🤣)

I follow the LL thread on the Theme Park forum, and it sounds like using the same profile to book different days simultaneously does NOT work! You should probably use two different profiles as PP above report. DD and I did the same with excellent results.

Also, load at least two forms of payment into MDE - you can have up to six - or have several Disney gift card numbers saved on your device so you can copy and paste them when paying. Some people have reported having purchases rejected as fraudulent, because you pay for each day separately and it looks to the credit card company like a series of small transactions in a short period of time. I even read one report of having a second purchase charged to the same Disney gift card being rejected!

I know with booking ADRs and experiences, whichever account books them is the only one who can make changes. Like if DH books Sci-Fi ADR from his account, I can see the booking in my account/plans but cannot modify the time or cancel.

Is this the same with LL?

We use DH’s MDE as our ‘default’ account in the parks - just for simplicity’s sake. If we divide and conquer for LL day pre-bookings, would that mean the days I booked we’d have some obstacles making changes from DH’s account?

There is no "lead guest" with Lightning Lane reservations and anyone with a linked MDE and "view and modify all of your plans" enabled can make changes.
