This is the exact information from the mouse himself regarding the monorail shutdowns. I've seen a lot of threads about this topic with information all over the place. This thread can be shared to new postings. As for the midday shutdown it will ONLY affect the Express beam. As of now monorail operating hours will be modified through March 20th, hopefully no longer. Yes this is a pain, but Disney WILL bring up alternate transportation at this time whether it be busses or watercraft. This same modified schedule has been in place off an on for the last year plus, it's nothing new. If you have questions about this modified schedule please remember that Monorail cast and the Front Desk at your monorail resort are your best resource. Other cast members in other areas may not be trained on the update. Let's try and keep this thread debate free please.

Unfortunately, like many things at Disney, you'll get a different answer depending on who you ask. I've found Front Desk CM's to be the least informed about monorail issues and schedules. Where did you get the information from?

Thank you SO much for this! As a WDW newbie, I'm still trying to wrap my brain around the Monorail system, and I totally thought that the midday shutdown was for the entire system. I am so relieved to see that it is just the express beam! :thumbsup2

thank you so much for this info!! It makes a big difference in our planning. We were under the impression that the midday shutdown was all lines. It will make getting to some ADR's easier for us.

I'm staying offsite and have an 8:05am ADR at The Crystal Palace. Do these monorail closures impact how we will get to Magic Kingdom? If it does, could someone explain how we should get there and how much additional time (if any) we should allow to get there in time?

Thanks!

Yes, they will. You would have to take the ferry from the TTC (or a bus, assuming they are running when the monorail is down). We have the same issue as we are supposed to go to Crystal Palace from Grand Floridian for an 8:30 ADR. Waiting to hear if busses are, in fact, running to MK during this time as our only other option is by (small) boat.

If your ADR is not on a Monday or Tuesday-the Resort Monorail starts at 7:00 AM.:)

The monorail resorts are receiving the same information that I posted above. The exact same information for this is just been copied and pasted. Now whether they choose to follow it when they receive a guest questions is another story. But they should be well-informed from this update.

Such great news! Thank you for clarifying! We arrive on Wednesday and were hoping to ride the resort monorail around to other resorts.

Our reservation is on Thursday the 11th, so assuming the schedule is the same for that week we are clear to use the resort monorail. Now for a really dumb question. Since we are staying offsite, can we get on the resort monorail at the regular boarding spot for Magic Kingdom? Or do we have to park at a resort that day and get on the monorail there? If we do, do we just tell the people at the resort that we have an ADR and have to park to get on the monorail? My eye twitch is coming back trying to figure this out.... lol

No, you can hope on the Resort Monorail line from MK or any of the resorts on the line. You don't need an ADR or any excuse to ride. So obviously then I wouldn't try to park at a resort if you just wanted to ride the monorail. The Resort Monorail will only take you to the resorts and MK, but if that's all you want then you can hop on at any of those resorts or MK. To actually leave the park though you'd have to get off at MK and then get back to the TTC by one of the available means.

Yes,you can board the Resort Monorail at TTC(magic Kingdom parking lot).

Just follow the signs for the Resort Monorail-Express Monorail and Epcot Monorail can also be boarded at TTC.:)

Also note that this hours may be adjusted around the park hours as well. Tonight for example the express and Epcot beams shut down at 10 and resort at 10:30.

Also, thanks for explaining what TTC is...I've been wondering what that stood for or meant! lol
