Moderates Choices Dogs or Construction?

I am sorry but I am irritated. I know there is still FQ but nothing is available but king bed at that cost 2,020 for 7 nights. Currently, we are booked at CSR but not thrilled because of construction. There is plenty availability at Riverside but I don't want to see or hear a dog on vacation. I really wish they hadn't done this. Please don't flame me for my opinion. I have a dog and love her dearly but when I go on vacation which is not often I like to leave the everyday life behind. We won't do value so that is not an option and Deluxe is to expensive.

I think CSR is your best bet. I understand the frustration. I want to book a bounce back, but they've severely limited my options for my family of 5.

I would also suggest sticking with CSR. The construction doesn’t have any impact on the lobby, restaurants and main pool. We’ve stayed twice during the construction and have two more stays planned (Dec 2017 and Oct 2018).

It’s a beautiful resort!

Hands down I'd stay at CSR. You might get a renovated room (all rooms at POR/FQ are old except Royal - and they aren't brand new), you get a wide selections of eats with all their dining options, you get one of the best pool areas, you get one of the best for transportation. If you can book Ranchos then you will not face any of the construction.

I saw a photo someone posted of their room this week, upstairs with a view of lake ... and cranes ... and honestly I was shocked that it wasn't bad. They totally embraced the view since other than the two tall boys, it was beautiful.

I have two spoiled dogs too, that vacation with us to appropriate locations. I will no longer book POR (which I love) and not FQ either since the walkways are not restricted and the CM who called me implied it could spread. I think CSR will always be safe because it's a convention hotel.

I didn't even think or know the walkways will not be restricted if you stay at French Quarter. Thank you for the information. Yes, our dog is ver very spoiled at home. She thinks she is a 80 pound lap dog...lol.....

Unless you have to have the Magical Express and/or the Disney Dining Plan, you should look into the Swan and Dolphin. Deluxe accommodations for the price of a moderate in a fantastic location. :)

Call them or click on one of the ads here. If you’re a Costco member, call their travel agency.

Their pet agreement does not restrict dogs to any area, only that they must be on leash when walking in public areas. Nor does it indicate they must use Pet Relief areas ..... There are never CMs along all the walkways on the river so who's going to stop them. And there are already first hand reports of dogs being on the Boardwalk which is across a bridge away from YC. When the guest complained to Boardwalk CMs, they had no knowledge of any rules.

Haha, 70 lb lap dog here ... and gotten worse since we added a real lap dog at 12 lbs.

I'd stick with CSR. I just returned this week from a stay at the Swan, and I think the only thing it had over a Disney moderate was location.

We could just do 6 nights and stay at AKL in a standard room. It comes out the same as FQ. Any thoughts?

I would stick with CSR, also. If you are okay with dropping a night then AKL is an amazing option. I would prefer the extra night, though!

I'm not sure what you're asking. If you don't want to see dogs, then POR is obviously out of the question. I would choose CSR over CBR.

Whatever resort you pick, you do understand there is no 100% guarantee of it being dog-free, right? Assistance dogs are allowed at all resorts. It does up the odds of seeing them if you book a dog-friendly resort, but no resort can be guaranteed to be completely dog free.

CSR is probably my favorite mod. I like POFQ but miss having quiet pools with as early as Disney closes the feature pools these days. POR was lovely too, nothing wrong with it but nothing that jumped out as wonderful either. So I wouldn't feel too bad about staying put.

Since CSR is a convention hotel, it often feels less busy than it is because of all those rooms full of people who aren't using the park buses or the feature pool/slide. And it has such a beautiful, tropical vibe, and little touches that make it feel a bit more upscale than the other mods. Plus it is home to one of our favorite under-the-radar Disney restaurants, Maya Grill.

Yacht club is a convention hotel.

Yacht club is a convention hotel.

True it is ... in conjunction with Beach Club which does not allow dogs in the hotel. If your convention is based there, you do have an option of staying non-dog hotel rooms.

CSR has no sister resort or backup for folks attending the convention, wanting to stay onsite but without dog rooms. CSR also has triple the convention space and I wouldn't be surprised if we see that expanded with the new tower. I think conventions will be it's main driving force once construction is complete.

If you can do 6 nights at AKL I would look at that hard. If any hotel will take the dog thing seriously it would be AKL. Imagine the nightmare if someone's pooch were to get loose in the savanah area and I do like dogs as well. I must because its me who has to get up every morning and take my daughters 12 year old pomeranion out.

This, dogs have always been at the resorts and will be at the ones that aren't designated dog friendly. We do travel with our little yorkie since she can't be boarded so we only stay at pet friendly resorts. I was at one in Jacksonville a few weekends ago and saw no other dogs than my own. Given what Disney is charging to have dogs stay there, I doubt you will see many more than you already see with the service dogs.

As far as construction at CSR, as other's have said, it's not really that bad. Most of the resorts have construction going on at one time or another, I don't think I've ever stayed at one that didn't have something going on.
