Hi,

My wife calls me at work today, telling me that she had been on waltdisneyworld.com. My first thought was  she made a $600 per night reservation for 11 nights at Ploynesian conceirge. However my worst fear was wrong  .

She actually was talking about how if we stay at a moderate instead of a deluxe we could stay 14 days instead of 10 or 11. I know that she really wants to stay at the Polynesian or GF so I am surprised she even mentioned this. Now mind you I am all up for staying two weeks at WDW, but I am wondering especially around Christmas time when the decorations are out, what would we really miss by staying at a moderate instead of a deluxe. Also would you move down a resort category if that ment 3 or 4 more days at WDW.

Thanks,

Why not do a split stay? Even at the low end of days you are staying many days so it would be like two trips in one! If you start the trip at the moderate when you'll be in the parks the most, you'll really be able to enjoy the deluxe amenities when you are in the "winding down" phase of your trip!

Just an idea,
Debbie

That's something we never thought of. We would be so lost without everyones help :) :) :) .

Dec 1-6, 2005 at a moderate (CSR, POR or CBR)

Dec 7-12, 2005 at a deluxe (Polynesian, GF or maybe AKL)

Thanks,

I think you have a plan! *high fiving you* As far as where, that is up to you and which themes you like. You're here, so you know where the information is, and I am sure know about www.allearsnet.com too! Can't plan a trip w/o them!

Have fun planning!
Debbie

I concur - split your stay! That's what we're doing for our upcoming Dec. trip - it's a great way to stay longer, experience more resorts, & see more Christmas decorations!:teeth:

I was also going to suggest splitting your stay. That's two vacations in one and it's not difficult to move to another resort!

I would look into staying 2/3 of the stay at a moderate and the other 1/3, if you can get a discount room, at a deluxe concierge (you got me thinking when you mentioned the Poly concierge...).

Another Christmas split-stay here too! WL and the Dolphin...working the location /crowd angle (hopefully) WL earlier in the week(Dec. 18) to hit MK at the lesser of the incoming crowd times...and then the Dolphin for MGM and Epcot...so we can just walk back to resort if we choose! We are staying for 10 nights....can't wait!

I would absolutely go for more time at a moderate over less time at a deluxe.

But I suppose it depends on how much time you plan to spend in the resort as opposed to in the parks, visiting other resorts etc.

Another vote for stay splitting. We're going for 8 nites at POP, and finishing up with 2 nites at AKL. I really wanted to experience POP, and DD LOVES giraffes. The best of both worlds.

Splitting sounds like it's going to really work out for you!!! For me, I would always go with more days at a moderate over less days at a deluxe!! For me, splitting the stay always seems to make the stay seem shorter, I don't know why!!:confused3

My answer would depend on how long ago my last WDW vacation was! Let's say I go 3 years without a Disney trip.
Then I'd opt for a moderate resort for a few extra vacation days.

But really, you get the best of both worlds by choosing to split your stay. If you budget correctly, you should be able to stay at a Deluxe for part of your trip, and still add on a few extra vacation days! (Maybe not 4 days, but hey, even an extra couple days is great.
