Moderate with the best pool

As @HopperFan mentioned, the pool area at CSR is a complete area. Not only do you have an amazing pool, one of the best slides, the biggest hot tub, a kiddie pool and playground, and arcade...but there's an eatery and drinks available right there. None of the other mods offer that.

Actually, CBR has all that too. Well it has 2 hot tubs instead of one big one.

Which moderate has the best pool for "pool days?"

Thanks!
In a landslide.....CORONADO SPRINGS...... Best Layout, Best slide (even better than some DELUXES), Biggest Hot TUB of any on property, Dig site, & Best opening of any pool.

POR is second and also has a very nice feel to it...But always seems a lil less crowded... HTH.

I think you've made a good choice. Its a newly refurbished resort with a great pool. Dont pay attention to the reviews. It actually became one of my fave moderates on property....I love the tropical feel, the rooms, the pool. I think the bad reviews were mostly due to the double beds pre-refurbishement, and the size of the resort (its pretty big). We didnt mind the size...the buses were fine. And as i said, the new rooms are beautiful and the beds super comfy. :)

:thumbsup2

Overall pool experience = CSR.

If you have toddlers/preK set, then CBR has a great water playground.
Okay...so I had to switch from CBR to CSR due to the discount that just came out. I am bummed because I really wanted to stay at CBR. However, when I see you say that CSR pool is better I am holding out hope that the change will be good. My kids are much older. They will be 17 and 13 at the time of our trip. Please tell me it will be okay.

Once my kids hit teens they didn't want to stay anywhere else, mostly due to the pool area and all the eat options. My DD picked it for her HS graduation trip and picked it for her few days before checking in to College Program and picked it to stay with out of town friends. Even when I offered a deluxe they said no.

We know all the moderates offer those things but CSR is the only one that offers it all contained at the pool.

At CBR you have to walk over to the food court for quick service options, not sure about the mug refill station, for a playground you go over to an island and the arcade is in the main building as well. At CSR you can do all of this within a few feet of the pools edge.

We did give nod that CBR has the great water playground and zero entry pool and in that regard it's a great pool area for the younger children / water play.

I honestly like the whole resort....Not just the pool, ( Which is great ). There pool & area is not only better than all other mods. but rivals some deluxes as well IMHO. As Hopper stated in the PP, everything is contained in a specific area, & well spread out there too.

Another great thing about the resort is the Bus service....For 9 days & nights, Never did we once have to wait for a 2nd bus (due to the 1st being filled) Nor did I ever have to give up my seat, or Stand during ANY ride, to n from.....** This never ever happens. I do like the decor here, but I realize this is an aquired taste for some...And I also loved the way the old Pepper Market use to operate....I'm not sure how it is done now, but loved the food options & the way the servers were there.

At the time we went the rooms were pretty updated & the beds Were very comfortable too.....

Hope you have a great trip..I'm sure you will.:thumbsup2

We JUST got back on the 24th from a stay at CSR and it is amazing, not just the pool, we loved it! It was very hard not to book there again for next year, but we want to try all the mods before we start repeating! My kids are 10 and 7. I want to echo something someone else said, the bus service was excellent we never had to wait on a second bus.

Man I hope PoR cuts down some trees! I don't go to Florida to sit in the shade. Lol

See THIS is why I LOVE the POR pool...fair skinned family, we love that the area surrounding the pool isn't just a large open concrete frying pan. The trees make it a more enjoyable experience becasue of the shade they provide.

We have stayed at both POR and CBR. Both had great pools, but with the refurb I would shy away from POR b/c if they run late you could be left without a pool.

CSR has a large pool complex and a slide that is a bit more than just a "kiddie slide." Should be appreciated by teens.

does anyone know the details with the POR pool refurb? I spoke with a CM yesterday and she said they were adding a kids play area just like CBR to Ol Man River in POR. Everything i'm reading online is saying that POFQ is getting it, but nothing about POR. I'm just wondering if booking a Royal Room was a mistake vs the CBR. with a 2 year old, we are really looking forward to the kids play area. we are going in June, so it should be done.

We book at CBR. Praying we have a good stay. The trip advisor reviews are pretty bad which scares me...but fingers crossed :)

Did you book a preferred room? That is the only way to be sure you don't end up with a long hike to the main pool. I have only stayed at CBR once, but I would never again book a standard room.

Most Trip Advisor reviews of Disney resorts are below par, possibly because they are written by persons who expected something the quality of a chain luxury hotel.

Remember most phone CMs really don't know much about resorts let alone future modifications, many have never even seen them. Adding play area to POFQ would be easy space wise, POR would take a great deal more land prep. Since the two resorts share pools it could be that one will never come to POR and they just tell guests to use the one at POFQ.

Dates posted by WDWMagic, which is not really long enough for a completely new addition.

Disney's Port Orleans Resort Riverside
Jan 11, 2016 to Feb 29, 2016

Info from PortOrleans site says only maintenance and fence. No water play area.

"Riverside Ol’ Man Island Pool Maintenance
Estimated Dates: 11 January 2016 — 4 March 2016

The Port Orleans Riverside main feature pool on Ol’ Man Island (including the children’s pool and the hot tub) will be closed from 11th January 2016 until 4th March 2016 for routine maintenance work and perimeter fencing modifications. This could potentially run a little longer, but those are the most accurate dates I have at present."

thank you so much - that answers my question. do you think it would be too far of a walk from the Royal Rooms? They do have Standard rooms available in POFQ that would be roughly the same price as the Royal Rooms.

We stayed Royal Rooms and walked over for breakfast a couple times. It's a nice walk along the river path and the pool area is right on the river. We LOVED our RR and I would stay them over POFQ any day. A standard room at POFQ is likely the farthest ones so if you are paying approx the same price you are getting a much better deal. I stayed standard in Bldg 7 close to POR. But if you are truly going to spend a great deal of time at pool each day then POFQ is a nice resort.

In map the RR are in the two lowest green buildings in POR. You can see it's approx location to the POFQ pool. Cross the bridge and follow the dashed line.

I've stayed at 3 of the 4 Mods and for me its:

1. Coronado Springs
2. Port Orleans French Quarter
3. Port Orleans Riverside (We just did not care for Ol' Man Island)
