Moderate vs Value, is it worth it?

We always stayed at Moderates CB, POFQ etc and last year stayed at Pop for the first time. I was between jobs so it just made sense to stay at a value. This year, I am working again - and we could certainly afford a mod or deluxe, but we decided to stay at POP again. I liked having one bus stop rather than stopping all around the resort. The bus crowds were bigger, but they seemed to send more buses. The room was adequate for the four of us (kids are 5 & 10) because we were rarely there anyway. We only did one night at the Pool - I am not at Disney for water slides - I can do that at the Great Wolf Lodge or Dorney. I would rather save my money for dining, and shopping.:flower3: That being said, if you want to spend a lot of time at the resort - you should spend the extra $ and get a good one.

I used a code and was able to get a MOD for only $88 more than eight days at the VALUE we where booked at! :goodvibes We went from ASMo to POR.:thumbsup2

Never stayed onsite before, but looking forward to it.

Where do you get these codes??! We've gone to Disney quite a few times and never get codes! :(

Two of the biggies of staying at a mod for me is the refrig and the coffeemaker. Not having to pack my coffeemaker is a space saver!

We just got back from our annual trip in August, 2+ weeks ago. It was our first stay at the Value. We stayed at the ASMU in the Calypso. We have always stayed at the mods, (POFQ for the most part) and so I was a little skeptical. Had my twin granddaughters (age 10) with me. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised! The room was smaller than I used to, but for the 3 of us, it was ok. The girls really enjoyed the pool and the activities that they had going on there, kareoke, dances, and the movies and games.
We didn't have much of a wait most times when waiting for a bus. My only complaint was that there was no covering at the bus stop! In the August sun, that was tough!
The food court was huge! We always were able to find a table for the 3 of us. The CMs at the ASMu were very nice and extremely helpful.
I have read alot of talk about the loud toilets but, honestly, they didn't really bother us.
There was alot of noise during the day around the resort, but where our room was, it was relatively quiet.
On reflection, for a budget trip, the resort was really quite nice.

Our next trip, though, we will be back at the POFQ. I just missed being there.

It depends if you plan to use those "extras". Every year we contemplate moving to a moderate, but for my family, I just can't justify the extra $400 or $500. We are lucky in that we have never had a bad experience at a value resort. When my girls were younger, they loved the large Disney icons and bright colors of the All-Star Movies. My DDs are now 11 and 7 and still love the All-Stars theming. Also, we are pretty much in the park all day, so we don't spend much time in the room. Anway, that's what works for my family.

My sentiments exactly. I have 2 boys now 10 and 14. We just got back from Sports in August and had a great stay and the boys still enjoyed the resort. And, if anything, the older they get, the less time we spend at the resort.
