Hi There!

I am trying to come to terms with the reality that I may have to go Value for my next visit. I am planning an impromptu visit with my Sis and her family in May 2008. My family and I just went to the World in Aug. 2007. We stayed at the CBR. Because this is a "last minute" trip I do not think I will have enough time to save up for a Moderate.

Have any of you ever decided not to go on vacay, instead of going Value? I am nervous that I will not enjoy my stay.

I need some die-hard "Disboards Value Fans" to sell me on the Value idea.

Thanks!

If it means not going, I'd definitely stay at a value. It's either be in Disney with a not so great room, or be at home wishing you were there.

I would definately go to a Value.
I think that any of the Disney Resort are Wonderful
and none of them should be looked down on.
The empression that the Values are not
Good Enough are something that the Resort snobs
do and I wouldn't care what they think.
You will be with your Family and I'm sure you
will have a Magical Time!!

I have never had a problem with the values (less cost means more trips). But your mileage may vary. If you go into the whole thing sincerely believing that you are going to be unhappy in a value, then it might be better to wait until you can afford the kind of room you really want.

We love the allstars!! ASMusic is our favorite - would prefer 2 rooms at a value over a mod or deluxe. If I am at WDW, I want the whole atmosphere, and the values give you the whole ambience and feel of Disney. We have to get 2 rooms now, as we are a family of 5. I can't imagine canceling a WDW trip because I was afraid of a value resort. Try it, I bet you will love it. Besides, it is a place to shower, nap, and lay your head after a long day at the parks, all you need while at Disney!!! That is what the Deluxe resort would be to us, so why spend all that money when you don't have to?

We stay at a value anytime that we take a "spur of the moment" trip. I don't think you will be disappoined. Our favorite value is the POP!!

I have stayed at both Wilderness Lodge and Pop and loved both resorts! Each had it's own feel, but Pop had more of the Disney feel then WL. I think it just depends on what you like to get from your Disney vacations. I'd be happy to stay at any onsite resort!!

It's nice to have the flexibility to pick a Value when your budget dictates that. To afford a rental, I may have to pick a Value and use the left over change to get a rental. Then again, maybe I can "rough it" with out the car. So much decisions to make.

Based on the pics I've seen, the Pop seems to have very nice theming. And you're right....it's great just to be able to stay onsite!;) .

I agree. I am stuggling with the decision to go Value with a rental or Moderate without. Room space vs. rental car.....   I'm prettuy sure that I want to go....because what Diser doesn't want to go!;) . But I guess I have to decide on not having a rental for a larger room or vice versa.

I think I set the bar real high when my first onsite stay was at the Poly. I stayed at the Poly concierge level and it was a blast. Have you ever stayed at a deluxe? Sometimes it's hard to switch gears. But I did have a great time at the CBR last visit.

i would definlatey chose a value-- we might stay deluxe this year, but we have never stayed in anything but a value. We stayed at POP for 3 years, and then this past sept when we went they had free dinning and we didn't have a choce but to stay in all-stars music, and we acutally loved it more than POP:) It's a great disney feel, and the pool is huge, and i think the buses were better than POPS buses. I do have nothing else to compared these resorts with but for me it felt like : deluxe". Also think of the time you will actullay be at the resort, thats what i try to figure. We are only at the resort to sleep, and maybe breakfast in the morning and are going non-stop in the parks and waterparks all day. But i would not pass up going to disney you would enjoy the values:)

As someone who has done the Poly, AKL and Pop and ASMo, I'd rather go value than not go at all. :thumbsup2 We usually do our 'value' trip for Easter because we can afford to go if we stay value. Our time is usually spent touring the deluxe resorts and going 'commando' in the parks.

OMG, I LOVVEEEEEEE Asmo, we loved it there when we went last time. I wish I could do just one room there- but my daughter is 4 now, so POR it is! The family suites are all boked up during my stay, bah humbug.

You are going to love it, it's so fun!

I'm not a big value resort person, no offense to those who are. I've stayed nearly every resort on property and going value is a huge step down from deluxe.

However, we are trying to plan a quick weekend trip in May and since I haven't saved for this one, I might be going value. And frankly I don't care! It's been 2.5 years since I've been so I'll bum in a tent on the BC beach if I have to. :hippie:

Plus, if we go value, I know DD will adore the sights of our resort so that will make it ok for me.

2008 will be our first time at a Value (Pop), however, we have friends that only stay at Disney Values. They are a retired couple and very well to do, money is no object. The wife absolutely LOVES Pop and AS Movies and even though they could easily afford any Disney Resort, they choose Values.

We drove by the AS Values during our 2007 trip and even ate lunch at AS Music (good) and they are really neat to see, the theming is wonderful!

We stayed at SSR in 2007 and loved it. We bouncedback and are staying at Pop this year, as we could not afford SSR.

We are excited, not at all hesitant! :thumbsup2

I would absolutely go if I were you! :) If you don't like it, don't do it again! Who knows? :confused3 You may find a new place to stay from now on!:rotfl:

Just returned from a one night stay at my first value (ASMu). Have been many times staying at Contemporary(tower and garden), Poly(garden), AKL(standard, pool, savannah, club level), Beach, Yacht(club), Swan/Dolphin, and once at Coronado Springs. My DD(12) and I went with another mom and daughter who really wanted to save money. I really looked forward to trying ASMu although I knew it would be a different experience from what we usually do. Well...............I loved it. It was perfect for the two of us. Plus it wasn't crowded so it was quiet. I do prefer the Deluxes (love the atmoshphere/location/queen beds) but wouldn't hesitate to stay at ASMu again in a similar situation. The pools looked very nice as did the food court. We didn't try either since it was such a short stay.

However, to be honest, I don't know if I'd stay value if:
1)much longer stay
2)busy season
3)our family of four was going

This is obviously just my opinion based on what is important to me. You probably already know what the right answer is for your family and situation. Go with your gut feeling.
