It completely depends on your own preferences.

For myself and my family, the environment and magical feel of the RESORT is equal to, if not more exciting than the parks themselves. So we would rather spend an extra year saving for, and looking forward to, a deluxe resort than downgrade. But everyone is different, which is a good thing.

Depending on the age of your grandson he might actually see moving to a value as an upgrade.

I'd personally switch to POP in your situation without question. POP is great for kids since they tend to love the larger than life (literally) decoration throughout the resort. It just screams Disney, more so for those who are younger. On the flip side the moderates are decorated in a much more low key way, so they might not be as impressive to the young ones.

I'm staying at CBR for the first time next trip after trying POP last trip. It's hard at this point to say which will be better, have I have a feeling we'll end up liking POP more. But at least we'll have a water slide at CBR, and we're trying to visit a different resort each trip so that's a plus too.
