would you go from a moderate to a value to save $$$. My grandson would use the pool and the arcade and I may hang out at the pool for awhile but other than that not much time spent at the resort except to sleep/eat and hop busses to the parks. that being said currently booked at cbr which value if any would you suggest if I should decide to move down a category to save money we could spend elsewhere? we have stayed at all star movies and found the accommodations to be just fine.

I'd switch in a minute. I have stayed at values and moderates, but I generally choose a value. I like POP. POP has its own bus, no sharing with any other hotels. CBR busses make multiple stops inside the resort, which is not a deal breaker...but POP is just one stop, which is better IMO. Lol. Also, it is a short walk over to AOA so you have access to 2 food courts. I always consider a moderate bc I like the theme and decorations more, but in the end I like saving money and a value is fine for us. I look at the savings as money we can put towards dining, souvenirs, etc. My kids are still small so the small room isn't a problem for us and they are happy with a pretty basic pool. Also, depending where your room is in CBR, it could be a massive hike to the main awesome pool anyway.

Now that we've been staying at POR I would not go back to a value resort. More specifically I'd never go back to Pop. Worst value stay ever. We don't mind the All Stars - any of them at all. They were so much better than Pop. But it's really up to you. Do what you feel you need to do. For us - DH & I, we won't go back. We are actually staying at the cabins in Ft, Wilderness this October to try them out.

We like the values and would stay there again, but if at all possible we try to stay at a Mod and the biggest reason for us is queen beds vs full. We just get better sleep. But if you are totally happy staying at one of the values then way spend more $$ if you do not need too. Our family is not allergic to walking so the size or distance at any level of resort is not a factor for us and neither is extra bus stops.

For the values I would suggest the Pop Century resort. It has a nice extra by being across the bridge from AoA in case you wanted to shop or dine there or just visit.

Love the values more then moderates, especially if you rely on buses. I would choose Pop every time.

I look at it this way. WE stay at moderates and Deluxe, so in order to go more often, yes, I would go from Deluxe to moderate. If I stayed moderate and value, yes, I would change my level of resort to go. Especially given that you do not plan to use may amenities, anyway it makes good sense to me.

I always look at what I plan to use before I choose a resort. You do nto plan to use much more than teh pool, so IMO, why pay for what you are not planning to use?

I've actually talked myself into the Mod's, twice.

And each time I regretted it.

Seems I'm a value girl at heart (not to be mistaken with a cheap girl :D ).

Pop is now considered our Disney home. I'm done trying any other resort. Especially those that cost more.

I would. We love Sports. It's small so no room is far from the bus or the food court. We always request the baseball section. It's quiet back there and the quiet pool is right there and often times barely used.

If you are comfortable at the values, I'd say go for it. Personally, I've tried Pop and ASSp and hated both, although I hated sports less than Pop. I just didn't like the noise and busyness at the food courts and gift shops. I don't factor in buses anywhere I stay since you can have good or bad service at all of them (I normally stay the majority of my time at the Epcot deluxe resorts). Nor do I factor in the whole this resort has more walking than that one, I've found the hallways at the deluxe resorts can be just as long as the walkways at the moderates, the only difference is the deluxe is covered.

If it's just you and your grandson, I think a value would be fine. You each get a double bed to yourself and that's adequate for me. Although, depending on how old your grandson is, he may enjoy the pool at a mod more than a value. My kids love the slide at CSR (heck, we all like it!) and although they liked the pool at Pop, it was a little too boring and similar to the pools they swim in frequently.

For our family of 4, after our last stay at Pop my husband said no more values on family trips. The double beds are too small for both my husband and me, and our two sons to share. We don't eat at our resorts that often, so it's not a major influence on the resort we choose. We usually pick whichever moderate has the best price available.

Like some others have said, it is a matter of preference. I love CBR and just recently stayed at AoA to save money...got a suite for 4 adults.

I like the CBR quiet pools and in hindsight, I should have booked 2 rooms at CBR instead of the suite at AoA. With one pool, the crowd seems bigger, the noise what really loud, and the money saved was not worth it to me. Both my sons like the quiet pools as much as the main pool, and the size never bothered me.

With that said, my wife and I walked around the lake between AoA and Pop...the buildings were bright at Pop, and the decor seemed pretty cool.

I've had six week-long stays at Pop and have two more week-long stays reserved. Yes, very happy with Pop value resort! We considered a moderate and decided it wasn't worth the extra money.

We've always stayed at POP and have loved it every trip. Our up coming trip will be at CBR. Our 1st at a moderate. Only reason is it cost us only $100 more for a 10 night stay over the cost of POP. We spend no time at the resort other than sleep so no need to spend much. Decided the $100 might be worth it for a slightly bigger room and beds. Otherwise we'd go back to POP. We've stayed at 4 and 5 star hotels around the country many times. They are nice but if the resort is not your destination where you'll spend your time then the extra $'s isn't worth it.

Absolutely! I have stayed at every level, and I have no problem trying to save a few dollars by going value every once in a while. The only value we've stayed at is Pop. We checked out the All Star resorts once, but I'm not a huge fan, and the price difference between those and Pop isn't big enough IMO to make a difference. I like the rooms at Pop and the pools are very nice - the Hippy Dippy pool has a lot going on during the day, but the other pools (in my experiences) are usually pretty quiet. I really did like just about everything at Pop - the only thing I had an issue with is that the bus stops are not covered - that gets warm and/or wet. But other than that, yep, love it!

I think it depends on whether you are ok sleeping in smaller beds... my hubby and I must prefer queens, especially with the four of us in a room. Otherwise, I personally think the moderates are overrated and overpriced for the most part. They are beautiful but you really aren't getting much more for double the price (usually). If I needed to save the money, I would absolutely do it!

Another vote yes, and for Pop. DD and I stayed there in Dec. and were comfortable, as we each had our own bed, and were mostly in the parks. With our usual family of four it would not have been as accommodating! We did miss CSR and our hammocks by the lake, but the cost savings made it possible for us to be there before Christmas and see the Osbourne lights one last time, with free dining, so totally worth it! :santa: We did pay for preferred room, which I recommend if you stay there. With that, we were able to request a room in 60s building 5, which was close to the front where the bus stop is and the food court for refilling our mugs, which was perfect for no additional walking! It was also right next to the Hippy Dippy Pool and the arcade for your grandson.
