Moderate Resorts -- Which One?

I have stayed at CBR twice and loved it both times, it is spread out though. If you opt to stay there, request a preferred location, esp if members of your party have mobility issues. I would also request that one set of rooms be connecting to yours so you can put the kids down and then go next door for grown-up talk.

If mobility is a huge concern, POFQ.

Welcome to the DIS.

Our favorite moderate resort is the POFQ with POR a very close second.

Absolutely beautiful grounds at both.

By far, the CS Resort is the best! It has elaborate themes, great bus service to the parks, lots of bus stops (you almost never have to walk far to get a ride), lots of parking, great onsite resturants, the pool - have you seen the pool?!, and it is quiet if you want (stay in the back) or fun and flamboyant (stay by the "dig" pool). Either way, the Pepper Market is one of the BEST counter serivce resturants in any of the resorts...tons of variety and made to order! Totally fab!

Disney Doll gave very good descriptions of the resorts. POR does have a sit down restaurant - Boatwright's -best breakfast I've ever had in my life. POR and POFQ are sister resorts and therefore you can LEGALLY pool hop between the two. That gives you the use of possibly more than 10 pools, there are quiet pools at POR in both AB and Mansions sections, as well as a Tom Sawyer like themed pool at POR. POFQ's pool has a large alligator or dragon slide and a mardi gras theme.
I guess the main question is what theme you like. We got to see a little bit of some other moderate resorts on the ME bus a couple of weeks ago. CSR had a lovely southwest theme, kind of a geometric feel. We stopped at CBR last trip and it was well like a Carribean Beach. POR has laid back Southern charm, more rustic on the AB sections and more fancy on the Mansion side. POFQ has a mardi gras type theme. I guess you have to decide what your family would like the best. We have loved POR and also just stayed at ASMo, we liked it too. I think Disney is wonderful anyway! Have a great time :Pinkbounc

We've always stayed at CBR on site, and we love it. Mainly because they have multiple pools and the grounds are so beautiful.

My first choice is CSR and then POR. I'm not a fan of CBR (sorry).

We just came back from a wonderful first time stay at moderates as well. We stayed at Coronado Springs and it was fantastic. I have nothing but good things to say about Coronado.

My favourites are POFQ and CSR. POFQ is smaller and more compact it also has a neat pool and only 1 bus stop.

I also love CSR. It has an amazing feature pool (The Dig Site) with a good sized children's play ground. I also think CSR always seems quieter since there are so many convention goers tied up with meetings they're not at the pool or on the busses in peak times.

A vote for POR, we loved it during our stay in June. We have stayed at many different resorts over our years of traveling and POR rates right at the top.
We stayed in the AB section, it was so relaxing after a busy day at the parks. The boat to DTD was great. :flower:

Just adding my $.02. POFQ is our favorite moderate. But its hard to say which is best as we have only stayed at CBR and POFQ. We did walk over to POR but found it way too large for us. CBR was nice if you have the right room location. We lucked out and were in Martinique- just next to the food court, main pool and bus stop.

We are a large gathering going in Feb of 2006. At the moment its Me, DH, DS (10), DD(7), DMIL, DFIL, DBIL, DSIL (will be 7 months expecting at the time) and DNiece (6). We are all booked at the POFQ because of its quaint size. Each building is just a hop away from all the action (food court, pool, bus stop). The only down side is there is no sit-down restaurant but there is boat service to POR to get to Boatwrights and to DTD where there are plenty of places to eat.

JMO......

I would agree that theming plays a big part in differentiating the resorts (and thus selecting one). However, I would disagree that they have the same amenities. For example, one of the PO resorts has a boat to DTD, none of the others do (though presumably the other PO is close enough to walk over and use the boat).

We chose CSR specifically becuase of the two amenities which are unique to CSR among the moderates: high speed internet access, and a fitness centre. DH needs high speed access to check on clients (a working vacation for him), and BIL is an athlete/coach who will likely benefit from the fitness facilities. The fact that it's "less Disney-fied" and less "over the top" suits our family's tastes, too.

The DTD boat actually serves both POR and POFQ, but it is true the other resort don't have this. There is also boat transportation between the two resorts and horse drawn carriage rides, I don't know if the other Mods have the horse/carriage.
