Moderate Resort

We just went to WDW a couple of weeks ago. My DH thinks I am a nut but I want to go back in November and then go back every November.

But to make the trip in November happen, I think I need to cut some $$ from the usual amount we spend. So far, we've typically stayed 8 days/7 nights at a deluxe resort. For November, I'm looking at 6 days/5 nights at a moderate resort. This wouldn't be a "do it all" trip like they usually are but more of a "I want some quality Disney time without waiting two years" kind of trip.

My question to all of you is, which moderate resort should we stay at?

If it helps, it is just the two of us and we will probably never stay at the All Star resorts becuase it is such a zoo there. We visited one of the All Star resorts in 1996 to get one of the 25th anniversary pressed quarters. I couldn't believe how out of control things were then.

Our first family trip to WDW we stayed at POFQ ("The" POR back then) and really liked it. Granted, it's the only moderate we've stayed at, but I'd highly recommend it. It's also coming off a major rehab, so it the facilities should be in pretty be top shape.

All the mods are great. It will come down to your likes and dislikes.

We love CSR. You can check out pics and info at my CSR website below.

CSR has the best pool of all the mods and the largest hot tub on WDW property. It is the only mod with a salon, gym and spa. Coffee makers are offered in the rooms with a fresh supply left each day. The transportation at CSR is not shared with any other resort. You can rent surrey bikes and water mice at CSR although the lake is no where near as large as Bay Lake.

A few things that folks don't like are that CSR is a large resort and a convention resort ( but so are GF and the Cont).

The Pepper Market is a food court of controversy on the boards because it is NOT set up like a traditional food court. You are seated by a hostess and given a ticket to have stamped by the food stations you get food. At the end of your meal, you pay as you exit and a 10% gratuity is added to your bill. Your server buses you table, gets your drinks and refills along with any condiments you make request. You also get silverware and plates, no paper or plastic. The food choices are a bit better than your regular food court too.

CSR is as close to a deluxe as you can get for a mod.

Good luck deciding!

A second vote for the Coronado Springs!! This is a beautifully landscaped resort with so many things to do. It is large, but you can use the bus system to get to other parts of the resort if you don't want to walk. We take the bus to the Pepper Market for breakfast then take a bus to the park we want to visit for the day. We think the Pepper Market food is very good, with a lot of variety. Take a surrey bike around the resort to see the different themed areasand landscaping. You will enjoy!!

POFQ is the way to go!! You'll love it. Once you stay there, it becomes your favorite Disney resort. I've tried POR, BC & AKL but always go back to POFQ.

The only reason I would be turned off to CSR is the decor. I live in Houston and have that Southwestern Style EVERYWHERE. But it sure sounds like a really nice resort.

Does anyone know what the decor of the newly renovated PO will be? Will it still be the New Orleans French Quarter style? I think we could go for that.

its still French Quarter style...I believe most of the renovations were done INSIDE

from what I understand, all rooms were completely gutted and redone

this has prompted us to book POFQ ourselves for may. in only opens back up in mid march...those rooms are gonna be in great shape

POFQ is also our favorite mod. We like the smaller, cozier atmosphere there. We have aslo stayed at POR when it was DxL and we enjoyed that too, it was just way more crowded and "crazy" feeling then POFQ. Even when we were at POFQ we went over to POR for breakfast at Boatwrights one morning. It was just insane over there. There were people everywhere! It was nice to leave and go back to POFQ where things were a bit calmer. Plus, we just love the boat to DD.

Good point. Since I live in the NE, I love the decor but I'm sure I wouldn't care for WL.
