Hello, my husband and I are planning our trip in December and would like to stay at a Moderate Resort. Which one would you recommend? We have stayed at Port Orleans- French Quarter and loved it, but would like to stay somewhere different this trip. Thanks for your help!

Our fav is Por Riverside in the mansion section. So why not try the other side!
We always stay at POR, but last january we tried POFQ! It's fun trying different resorts.

I love FQ but may be changing my Oct reservation over to POR. I like the size of POR better than CBR (plus the Full Size beds instead of queen are a bummer), and CSR is just not my idea of a resort (Southwest is not my favorite décor). Both CSR and CBR are just huge, not that POR is small but POR has the advantage to being a sister resort to FQ and having a great landscape and a lot of choices that are pretty comparable pricewise.

I really think the boats between POFQ and POR and the boat to DTD tip the balance to the PO resorts as well.

My favorite moderate resort, so far, is the Caribbean Beach Resort. It's theme is a laid back beach feel. The size of the bed is smaller than other mods, but not noticeable when your exhausted from the parks. Plus you can view the Epcot fireworks from one of the hammocks on the beach. I've stayed at Port Orleans Riverside in both the mansion and bayou sections. If you chose to stay there, mansions is a lovely area.

Our last trip (and most likely all future trips) we stayed at POR in a Royal Room and loved it! The scenery is beautiful, and it's so quiet there. I like that they have quiet pools. When we were there in December (mind you it was quite chilly so not many people used the pools) if our room wasn't clean yet on our afternoon break from the parks, we would head to the quiet pool around the corner for our relaxation time. If you stay, I highly recommend seeing Yehaa Bob at the bar. My daughter liked him so much that we stayed in another night to see him instead of going to see fireworks!
I also like the restaurant there - Boatwright's. And we loved having the option of walking over to POFQ, or taking their buses back from the parks when given the chance. If you stay in a mansion building, they're very close to POFQ (Royal Rooms are the closest) so the walk isn't much more than if you take a POR bus. And as you probably experienced staying at POFQ, the boats to DTD are a very nice change from taking the buses. My only complaint with that is the boat line leaving DTD is usually horrendous and we would usually have to take a bus back, but oh well. I'd still pick POR any day over any of the other moderates!

Love POR, but we would have POFQ 1st & then Riverside. Honestly either way you can't go wrong. Just my 2 cents worth. :)

We've only stayed at one mod, CBR, and we loved it. The atmosphere was beautiful, the food court was good, the pool was nice, and the buses were quick and efficient.

Besides POFQ, I would try CSR. It is a beautiful resort for a mod price with a deluxe feel to it.

CSR is our favorite mod. It's laid back and beautiful. The rooms have an upscale feel and we LOVE The Pepper Market food selections.
We have never had a problem with conventioneers.

Our favorite moderate is coronado springs

Very lush, and romantic

We have stayed at
Caribbean beach
Port Orleans
Coronado springs
Moderate resorts

Favorite moderate is CBR. They are proposing refurbs in 2014 though.

Our fave mod is POFQ followed by POR. The only other mod we've stayed at is CSR and we really didn't care for it (except that it does have a fantastic pool!)

We always stay at CBR. We have stayed there 5 times and never had any problems. Lovely scenery, no problem with buses, kids love the pool, food is great. Yes the beds are double but I agree with other poster - who notices when you are exhausted from a day at the park.

IMHO pros and cons of each moderate:
POR- beautiful resort, decent TS, piano player, plenty of quiet pools that have deep ends, boat ride to DTD, food court w/ many varied GOOD options: can be a hike to the main building and several bus stops within the resort. (Personal note: as I am from the South, I am not wowed by the theming.)
POFQ - lovely views, small so nothing is a hike, tasty food at food court, very friendly staff, boat ride to DTD: food court has very limited seating - you may find yourself without a seat during only moderately busy times; as it is both small and very popular rooms are not always available; does not always have AP or other discounts
CBR - great theming, large rooms, QUIET inside the rooms, good centralized location, plenty of quiet pools that have deep ends: large and very spread out-can be a hike to food court; check in, etc. in different building than food court; food court is average, sit down is terrible. (Note: if you plan to use the food court and refillable mugs I would definitely pay for a preferred room.)
CSR- beautiful lake, fresher food court food, surprisingly good TS, gym facilities: big and spread out, some sections are close to half mile from main building, (Note: if you plan to use the food court and refillable mugs I would definitely pay for a preferred room.)
As always, YMMV!

We've stayed in Ranchos 7A which is the farthest from El Centro and using the walkways and bridge near Cabanas 8B, the walk didn't seem far. The walk from Trinidad building 39 (CBR) seemed quite a haul.

Your resort summary is excellent!
