I have only stayed at the Pop and the GF....what I need from seasoned DisneyWorld visitors is....do all the moderate resorts only have exterior, uncovered walkways to get to the lobby and such like the value resorts? I know that don't seem really important but it was terrible in Dec. to walk that long way in the cold and sometimes rain at the Pop. I thought the mods would be different...please let me know any info on this. Thanks!!! princess:

The moderate resorts are out in the open however they are all covered. We were deluxe resort people to but our last trip we stayed at French Quarter (in Dec.) and LOVED it! I would probably choose it over AKL, WL, or CR anyday!!

the Cont in the tower only, WL/VWL, BC/YC/BCV, AKL - are all in one building - or are connected to that building (VWL and BCV) you might get a little wet but that is all - most of it is inside.

the others are not.

I hate being outside in bad weather trying to get to a restuarant.

the only moderate that comes close is POFQ - but that is because it is the smallest and it only has a food court - for the restuarant a long walk to POR.

Everyones views and opinions are different! We loved the everything under 1 roof style of WL (even the walkway to the buses is covered).

I think it depends on what building you get as to what you think of POFQ. We got bld 7 which was quite a walk from the lobby, pool, and bus stop. There are no covered walkways in between the buildings so you are out in the open but there are sidewalks. Because of our room location the stairs were much closer than walking arround to the elevator so we used the stairs which was close to our car and then drove to where we needed to be. I did not like walking back from the bus stop to our room late in the evenings.

The best part of POFQ was the room decor, the flowers (outstanding), and according to my DS the dragon slide.

Really?? When I stayed at POFQ I thought everything was close to everything else. I thought even the boat was a close walk to the lobby.
I bet you would not like CSR. :earboy2:

I'd agree with everything being close except for bld 7. After being spoiled at WL we felt the location of our room at POFQ was quite aways out of the way. Now on the positive side we watched MVMCP fireworks from the railing outside our room one evening!!

I bet you are right that we would not like CSR or CBR. We intend to stay far away from both of those!!

Though I do have to say - I'd stay anywhere even bld 7 at POFQ again if that is the only way I could go back to the World!!!!!!!!

The outside walkways and entrances to your room are one of the reasons why we choose deluxe resorts. POFQ is the only mod we have tried and we did like it, despite the outside walkways. It is a beautiful resort. Very compact I am told by comparison to the other mods. so there would be less walking around to things there, but I can't really compare it myself since it is the only mod I've been in.

We were at the CBR last month, I knew that it was big, but didn't actually realize how big it was! We were in a preferred room so it wasn't so bad, but if you stayed in the other buildings, you could have a looong walk to where you want to go. The weather was absolutely gorgeous so we didn't have to walk in rain, thank god. The overall feeling of the resort was great, but too spread out - next vacation will be at a deluxe hotel to avoid the open layout.

If you are looking for a moderate with the least amount of walking, make your ressies at POFQ. We LOVED it. We were in building 3 to the left of the Mint (where the front desk, shops, and food court are located). The closest buildings to food court and bus stop is bldg 4, which is to the right of the Mint. This was a smoking building, but that may have changed since renovations this past winter. Speaking of renovations, POFQ is the most recently renovated and they spared nothing in doing so. Rooms were basically gutted and have new EVERYTHING in them. If you want to be in the middle of everything, I would recommend bldg 5--(request to be nearer to the Mint), which is to the right of the pool. Bldgs 1 and 7 have the longest walk, but even that is pretty short in comparison to some of the other moderate resorts. We LOVE POFQ. It is our favorite moderate, and 2nd only to the Polynesian to us!
