We are planning to go to WDW 4/9-4/15/17. There are 5 of us and so we will need 2 rooms. DH would rather stay at a moderate because we can not go deluxe or DVC this time. My question is can we have 1 room with a King bed and then a connected or adjoining room for the kids that has the 2 Queens in it? For us, our children are older so connecting rooms is not a must if they are in the room directly beside us. Thanks!

You can request connecting or adjoining rooms. It is not guaranteed. If the children are all under the age of 18, you will have to book the rooms with one adult in each room. Keep in mind that adjoining does not mean that the rooms are right next to each other. They will only be near each other (i.e. same building, same floor, same wing, etc.).

The Moderates all have some King rooms that connect to a room with 2 Queens. Just be prepared for the possibility that they may not be remotely close to one another.

CBR and POR both have rooms that will sleep 5 with a Murphy bed.

Thanks everyone! I thought adjoining meant sharing a wall so next door. Well in that case we will just request connecting rooms and not worry about the beds. The kids will be 16, 13, & 13 when we go so it looks like one of us listed in each room.

I did consider the fact that some of the rooms can sleep 5 but we would rather have 2 bathrooms. Also, DH likes a separate sleeping area as sometimes he just wants to relax while we are going in and out.

Just keep in mind that even "connecting rooms" is simply a request. No guarantee at all that it will be fulfilled.

In practice, "adjoining" means "as close as possible." Depending on how full the resort is, that may work out to be right next door, it might be across the hall, down the hall, two floors down in the same building, or in the next building over.

Please keep in mind that you can request Connecting Rooms, but you are not guaranteed to get them. Disney does their best to give them out when requested, but sometimes they just don't have them available. If you and your husband sleeping apart is a deal breaker (and that is what you would have to do if you end up with non-connecting rooms) then maybe consider a family suite at either AoA or the All Star Music. You would get room to relax and 2 bathrooms at either one of those resorts.

You can also call Disney reservations and request a notation on both rom reservations that you are "traveling with" the other ressie. I've used this successfully on several trips. It won't guarantee your rooms will be next to each other (but it's also not out of the question), but in close proximity.

...although current online checkin at some resorts claims Connecting is guaranteed.

Eye roll here.
