It has been 8 years since my last visit. The prices have sure skyrocketed. I think I stayed for less than 80 a night. Are there any deals out there less than $100? I may be staying offsite. Can't fly this time either. Hubby refuses after the wild landing in Hurricane Floyd. Any moderate type offsite recommendations?

Not sure if you are limiting only to Moderates or not but you can get a value for less than 100 ... thinking it is either 79 or 89 a night.

The "moderate" resorts have become so over-priced in the last few years. Our first trip in 2003, we stayed at CBR for $89 per night. Now it is listed for $175 for the same time period!:scared1: I know that is rack rate but since the room-only codes have all but disappeared, that's pretty much what you'll pay unless you have AAA.
Have the values and deluxes gone up as much as the mods? I stayed at Pop for the first time in 06 so I'd never checked prices there before and I've never stayed deluxe so I have no idea of how they've gone up.

There might be a Annual pass discount to come. They are announced through out the year. One person in the party has to have a AP.

I very much agree with the OP!!

I am very reluctant to stay at moderates anymore, since the prices are so high. I just don't think they are worth the money, and I feel I don't get much more for my money than if stayed at a value. I used to often stay at moderates when I could get those $83 a night AP rates, and that was definitely worth it! :cloud9: But those deals are few and far between, and last time I stayed at a moderate, I paid rack rate (ouch!), and regretted it. Funny thing is, I will gladly pay rack at values, and also gladly pay rack for "lower-end" deluxes (Swan, AKL, WL) since I feel the balconies, interior corridors, more compact hotels, and better amenities are worth it there. :)

I have to stay in a moderate or stay offsite b/c I'm a family of 5 and on a budget.

But with that said, I recently got POR for 40% off using "the code". It was $145/night during value season, but we got it for $87/night.

Yes, moderates really must change their names now.

There is nothing "moderate" about them! At rack rate with tax, CBR was $197. Almost $200/night is NOT moderate to me :scared:

**This was a standard, not preferred room, too.

For the first time in five or six trips, we are considering staying off-site. For the savings, we could hire a taxi each day to take us back and forth!

Since the OP asked "Any moderate type offsite recommendations?" I'm going to move this to the Orlando Hotels board.

Come to Windsor Hills Resort, it's the best value and the nicest place you'll find in the area for the $$!!

Check:
www.windsorhillsrent.com
or
www.vrbo.com

You can rent some absolutely gorgeous homes, townhomes, or condos there direct from the owners for a lot less $$ than any resort property, they're actually CLOSER to the parks than many of the "value" properties, and 10x nicer!

Plus, everyone will have their own bedroom, bathroom, and more, you'll never stay onsite again once you visit, I promise! :goodvibes

Here's a map of resorts in the area to give you an idea of what's what:
