Trying to decide where to stay next time, are the rooms at the mods similiar to a motel 6 or are they a step above? What about the beds, are they pillow top or hard, cheap ones?

Thanks!

I don't think so. I love CSR! Check out my CSR website below for pics and info.

The moderates are not anything like a motel 6. This web site and many others show many pictures of the rooms at all the hotels. Take a look at them to see what you think. They are well appointed though, probably smaller than what many comparably priced hotel rooms are in other destinations. Off site hotels in Orlando are sometimes as small. Don't get me wrong. The rooms are comfortable in size. Do not expect a suite. The bathrooms may also seem a bit small. Mods have laundry and some have on site restaurants. They have a pool with slide and a bar area at the pool and main building. We have stayed at POFQ twice and have had a balst both times.

No way is POR like a Motel 6 - it's almost like staying Deluxe IMHO, except the rooms are smaller. It's downright beautiful there! :thumbsup2

The rooms are clean, pretty and have nice amenities for a moderate price. Nope, not Motel 6 in any way, shape or form. Go ahead and book one.:cool1:

If in your mind a Disney Moderate could possibly be like a Motel 6 you should probably book a Deluxe. It seems you already think of a Mod as being less than and you don't need the angst on vacation. I can only imagine what you think a Value room would be like. ;)

I thought the same thing - but even the Value rooms are leaps and bounds above a Motel 6 room. Take it from someone who stayed at a Motel 6 on Route 192 for one night and then moved on to the All Stars - it was like going from the ghetto to a gated community.:lmao:

I hate to have to disagree with some but we thought the values were similar to Motel 6 in some ways....I can't describe it. It just wasn't for us...and we have stayed at Pop, the All Stars...and Music over the years. The rooms are extremely small and the food court area we so loud at times it was unbearable.

The moderates are a much nicer step up. We really enjoyed POR FQ before...the grounds are beautiful. I also think that Coronado Springs is very lovely. We haven't stayed there but we have visited numerous times to eat and shop.

I personally would pick the mods over the values if affordable. Its all a matter of personal opinion. If you go to Deb Wills site...she has great photos of all the hotels and this might help you make your decision. (she also has room sizes listed)

have a great time whereever you stay...you're at Disney!

In no means of any reality could I compare POFQ with Motel 6. The grounds are so beautiful it's easy to see why it's won awards. I don't recall Motel 6 having a food court, pool, hot tub, entertainment or bus service. But then I am old enough to remember when they only had black and white TV's in a Motel 6. I also wouldn't put the Values in the same league with a Motel 6. Keep in mind, I did stay at Pop and while it's cute, it's not for me.

Did your motel 6 have a food court, arcade, gift shop, 3 pools, 2 kiddie pools? Was it sparkling clean and have friendly staff?

I know the motel 6 I stayed in once had holes in the sheets, dirty floors, a pool that hadn't been cleaned in 3 years, a tv that got 2 channels that were fuzzy, and rude staff.

I also have to add that it cracks me up when people look down/snub the value resorts. These cost anywhere from $90-150 a night depending on season. That is FAR from a low end budget motel. Take a drive up outside of WDW and look at those $29-$39 motels. THOSE are budget motels.

I am staying at a gorgeous 4 star hotel next weekend for a conference. It has pillow top beds, duvets, flat screen tv, room service, spa/salon, beautiful pool,etc.. and am staying on the special conference rate of $100/nt. Its normal rate is $150/nt. - so its the same price as the Values pretty much. There is a motel 6 down the road that some people I know are staying and they are paying $59/nt - and this place is SCARY.

Normally, if you look at a Value resort on the star system, it COULD be classified as a 4 star - it has all the services a 4 star offers, but because of it being outside corridors and has a 'motel' type set up, it really isn't seen as a 4* hotel. I believe a 4 star has to have certain 'services' like room service, restaurant on property, etc....
The rooms are NOT 4* quality, but the amenities offered are.

I agree Disney's value and mod resorts are a total bargain. You get so many perks (Disney themeing, Disney themed pools, Disney transportation, and EMH)
Any of Disney's resort guests (even those staying at a value or mod) are allowed to shop, rent watercraft, go the Chip & Dale campfire, buy admission for a dinner show, dine, use the transportation or spa facilities at any of the Disney Resorts. (Of course pool hopping is not allowed.)

Just my 2 cents.

The OP asked for opinions on hotels?, I simply gave mine. Apparently some didn't read my opinion, I said there were some things similar. Apparently I am not the only person whom has an opinion about the value resorts. There are numerous threads pertaining to this topic.

here is a link to one:

This one was eventually closed due to unpleasantries.

The purpose of these boards are to share our thoughts and experiences about Disney so we can learn from one another. What one family enjoys, the next may totally have no interest in. It doesn't mean its bad, its just not their thing. Personally I enjoy hearing everyone's thoughts on et al Disney! :)

Have fun at Disney!:wizard:

AsSports reminded me of a nice Travelodge type motel, but the mods...not even close. Mods rock and IMO, offer the best bang for your buck on property!

Even in the Values, Mousekeeping is honestly the best thing there is! Nothing like staying in a Motel 6!

I personally thought they were just very basic hotel room. So my next trip we are staying at wl. Doesnt mean that the value are not nice, they are.
