My mom is coming with this time, and she is freaking out after reading reviews on very long walk times to transportation and food at CBR. Is it really that bad? I stayed at CSR, and I know it was a long walk there. Is there a better option? TIA!

Port Orleans French Quarter. I think if your mom is concerned about the walking distance, this resort is your best bet. It has a small, quaint setting. The absolute furthest building is probably only five min. from the front. You could request a room closer to the front/busses to help even make it a smaller distance. We loved our stay there!

I think if you book the preferred room category you'll find POR (as well as the other mods) very convenient :confused3 .... Building 14 in AB is right next to the bus stop and food court :confused3

I agree with the PP. POFQ is awesome in regard to being a small resort which requires less walking. We were really close to the food court, bus stop and the pool.

I have taken my aunt, my DD's friend with Lupus, and my husband who has a bad back and cannot walk any distance. We have gotten ECV from Apple rentals or Bueva Vista. They are (I think) reasonably priced and very convenient. They are waiting for us when we arrive and we just drop them off with at the desk when we checked out.

French Quarter is a very compact resort with gorgeous landscaping and the added perk of being able to take a boat to DownTown Disney

For me CBR felt way bigger than CSR. No way would I take anyone with issues walking to stay at CBR. No way.

I vote to for POFQ. No matter what room you end up in, you are not that far away from the bus stop or food court. I love POFQ.

Whatever resort you stay in could result in a long walk. You can always pay extra and pay for a Prefferred Room Location which is normaly close to the main bldg.

Agree with the others. CBR is long whereas CSR is round. So, the walking seems worse at CBR. Also, CBR is the only resort with an internal bus system to take you from building to building so that should tell you how big it is.

POFQ is by far the smallest. But I think a preferred at POR would work well too. The preferred rooms at POR are a quick walk to the main buildings which are all connected, and the main pool is right there too.

Definitely French Quarter. I wish FQ was included in the spring discount offer! It is our favorite moderate.

I have to agree with POFQ. We just got back last night after our first stay there in over 20 DW vacations (we've stayed at most of the DW resorts except the values) and we absolutely loved it!!! I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed this beautiful, compact and quaint resort!!! :goodvibes

Thanks for all the replies! My mom is in great shape, but she's a little spoiled. She has only stayed at deluxe resorts when she went with my dad. Sorry, not in my budget mom! ;) It's also the first time I'm taking my 5 year old son, so we don't want to be stuck giving mile long piggy back rides when he's worn out from the park. I will definitely be looking into POFQ a little more.

By all means look into POFQ if that resort appeals to you. None of the buildings are far from the bus stop or food court.

But if it's only a matter of walking, then you also have the choice of booking a preferred room at any of the other mod resorts, since they are the closest buildings to the main building.

Honestly, I think that the last room we stayed in at AKL was further from the lobby than our CBR room in Jamaica . Ok, maybe that's a slight exaggeration, but not much. Some of the outer rooms at the Deluxes are pretty long walks, too.

Well, not exactly. Any resort with multiple stops has an internal bus system. CSR (just like CBR) has one stop for each section of the resort. POR has two sections, but four stops. SSR also has one stop for each section, while OKW has several stops but isn't really broken up into sections.

Since she's spoiled, maybe go "moderate plus" and book business class at CSR? It guarantees you an excellent room location, building 9B located close to both the main building and feature pool, and gives you access to a club level lounge with snacks and beverages as well as a few extra features in the room (DVD player, "deluxe" level toiletries, turn-down service). I can't give a personal review yet but for our upcoming trip the price difference was less than $40/nt over CSR standard view so I jumped at the chance to try it.

I think she is referring to the bus that just makes the rounds at the resort itself at CBR. That is called the Internal Shuttle, and says so on it's marquee. CBR is the only resort that has that, due to its being extra large.

The Internal Shuttle bus is separate from the buses that pick up at the stops and then go to the parks.

Look at the size this way: If I stay at POR and get on at the first stop, I have 3 more stops to sit through before heading to the parks. If I get on the first stop at CBR I have 6 more stops. That is big!
