We will be coming in on a Friday night and plan to stay onsite, then check into DVC in the morning.

Which Value or Mod resort do you recommend staying? We'll have AP's for our stay, so any guestimate in the difference in price?

We are staying at the AKL for one night prior to our stay at Vero this August. We thought that a one night stay without going to the parks needed to be a destination in itself. I think that the AKL would fit this bill. I think we will try out alot of the deluxe resorts this way now that we are members. And with the AP, you will likely get some discount.

Thanks TA, but it's hard to justify the cost of a Deluxe. We're not landing until after 8 and want to stop by DTD before checking in. Then we're out after breakfast to check into DVC.

We've stayed in PoP and didn't really like it. But it was in the more crowded summer season. How do the All Stars compare?

We've also done CBR and CSR, really loved CSR. So if we go mod, I'm thinking POR or POFQ.

I have stayed at both ASMovies and ASMusic and thought that both we just fine for a short stay. Just one night with so short a visit, I would definitely go with the least expensive onsite resort. I have seen people post that they got a rate as low as 49 dollars plus tax with the AP discount.

Value why waste the money on not much more room especially for just one night.

If its just a place to crash for the first night and save a few dollars/points I would stay offsite. Those value resorts are .....well......value resorts.

I agree. We have always stayed in a nice off site hotel like a Hampton Inn. We check out early the next morning after having a free breakfast. Then we check into our DVC Resort.

Are you taking the M.E. in? If so, the value resorts are obviously your best choice. If not, I agree with the previous posters. STay off site at a nice hotel (which will be cheaper probably even with an AP discount), most have breakfast for free (some even hot breakfast like the Hampton Inn off I-drive) typically.

As to the Pop vs All Star question. I found them to be very similar except that our room at All Star Sports felt much more dated. You have things like auto dispensers for soap and shampoo at the All Stars rather than little Mickey Soaps, etc. I know it doesn't seem like a big deal, but to me it made it feel even less clean somehow. Also, I literally had to straddle the toilet at the All Star to get the door closed (without climbing into the tub). We have started mostly staying at Moderates when not at DVC. I like the bigger rooms, the curtain so that if one of us gets up earlier, we can turn on a light and not wake the children, and the walks around the complex are much nicer. However, the "tightwad" in me says for checking in late an leaving early, go with a Value.

We just got back from BWV, and we stayed 2 nights at POP, with AP rate of $74, and loved it. A place to lay your head, (LONG WALKS, :earseek: ), but hey for the price, then we checked into BWV. I DID use the DDE at the food court/bar, and it was worth it...

My Opinion: Stay at Value, I will NEVER stay off site again-- esp. the I-Drive area, UGH!!!

Again, JMHO.....

I've stayed at ASSp...IT was very nice and, especially if you are gonna get in bed...wake up and leave...you will not get ANY greater value out of a moderate...Save your money! Pick the value resort that suits your family best...book it....

....better yet...if you insist on being onsite...see what kind of value you can get at one of the DTD resorts...you might do better than at the values!

We've also stayed the first night at values twice now. Once at All Star Music the first week of December, pretty loud and hectic. This last April we did the first night at POP, I thought that was much better, could have been the time of year or maybe just newer, but I would do the POP the next time. We only sleep there and get up early and leave! :earsgirl: :earsboy:

All Stars...being on the property seems to get you in the Disney mood the first night. Off-site make me feel I'm still on the road.

I agree with those that say it's not the same to stay off site. I like to feel in the Disney mood ASAP and offsite just doesn't cut it for me. The $ savings for one night isn't that dramatic when comparing value resorts to offsite IMHO.

I've stayed at Pop and ASM. Preferred the theming at ASM for a lengthy stay POP has a rather LOUD decor and while it was cute at first it overwhelmed me after a few days. However, for one night I'd choose POP--newer and in better shape than ASM.

If you are taking ME, i'd also go with a value hotel depending on what month you are going AP rates are $74.00 to 54.00/nite. If you are landing at 8:00pm you will not get to your hotel til at least 9pm. actually if your taking ME from what i've read, could be as long as three hours after landing before you get to your hotel

If renting a car, id consider offsite, (having gotten rooms for as low as 39.00), you can still get up early, have breakfast, go to the grocery store to stock up on supplies and still check in at bw by 10am. and be in the parks by 11am.
have a great trip

Our family still loves the values even moreso than any of the mods and some deluxes on property. If we werent DVC members we would be doing every trip at either the All Stars or POP we just love the places. The only mod we will stay at now is Coronado that is our favourite mod and the deluxe if not DVC is BWI.

A late 2 cents:
Our pre-DVC favorite was PORS. We still like to stay there a day or 2. We would definitely do PORS for our 1 night stand. The food court is decent and we love the quiet pools in Magnolia Bend (or main pool if traveling with kids). Have fun, whatever you choose!

One more opinion. I've done a one night stand at POP and it was fine. But OKW looked really great in comparison.
