Mobility Issues and Fast Passes

Do you recommend a Fastpass for shows and parades if you have a disability? I have to secure fastpasses for our vacation soon. My DH is disabled and will be using a scooter in the parks. I appreciate any insight you can give me. His disability is new, and we are all still trying to figure things out.

No, you can go to the wheelchair parade viewing and there is plenty of wheelchair seating if he can transfer at the shows.

He can transfer to a wheelchair for the shows, but sitting on a bench or in stadium seating is not going to work for him.

Then he can stay in the scooter for the shows, still won't be a problem. I have 2 daughters in wheelchairs and even during Christmas and Easter we don't have problems getting seating

As long as his scooter fits in the "footprint" allowed for a wheelchair (vast majority do), he can remain on the scooter at shows and parades. For shows/attractions, you'll go through the regular standby queue unless you have a FP+, and then you'd enter the FP line.

For parades, there is reserved handicapped areas that does not require a FP, but depending on the time of year and how busy/crowded the parks, this area could fill early and/or he may be restricted to 1 companion with him in the reserved areas. In my experience, you'll still want to arrive early for parade viewing. If you do FP+ for the parades, that is a different viewing area than the handicapped areas and you arrive at the FP+ designated time.

Thank You All! I have rented a Disney regulation scooter from Buena Vista Scooters for him to use on this vacation. Would you mind sharing your favorite spots for parade viewing? I really appreciate all of your suggestions and ideas. You are all providing a valuable service.

Magic Kingdom my favorite is across from Hall of Presidents because I can sit behind my daughters on the rocks. Animal Kingdom before you get to the bridge to Africa on the right side where the parade starts is the handicap viewing area we use and there too I can bring a stool from the tables to sit behind kids.

well, FASTPASS is essentially a "virtual" queuing system. If you dont want to wait in queue then I will recommend you for the FASTPASS. Because usually you can get seats easily and if you have a powerscooter. It will be easy for you to get space and you can easily watch the parade.

So if you can wait in queue you don't need a FASTPASS.

For us at MK, the handicapped seating area across from the Hall of Presidents is the one we avoid if at all possible. The speakers are right above this area, and my one DS is extremely sensitive to loud noises. Even though he wears headphones, he still has to cover his ears and puts his hood up over his head to hide because the volume is so loud. Just our experience.

I would love to help but need more info. Do you use assistive devices? Are you mobile? Do you have stamina issues. Do not mean to be nosy but I 'm not sure what you need.
