Mobile ordering .. is it necessary /beneficial?

It charges to the card setup in MDE for the account logged into MDE at the time you order. Who paid for the hotel or how the magic bands room charge is setup is not factored in. Now if you aren't paying anything and your generous benefactor is paying for all you meals if they are charged back to the room, then I guess that's worth the wait, but obviously an extreme example. For most people who aren't tied to gift cards, mobile ordering is a no-brainer.

I agree! I just wanted to show that not everyone who is choosing to not use mobile ordering is foolish. :-)
 
Mobile order in my experience has been hit and miss. I've been using it for over a year. When it's great, it's great. I have had fast easy experiences at Jolly Holiday, Hungry Bear, Ronto Roasters, Docking Bay 7, Flo's, and Pacific Wharf Cafe. I have had abysmal experiences at Red Rose Taverne about a year ago and Award Wieners just this month. The Award Wieners one was particularly frustrating because I ordered the food from Buena Vista Street, hit the button for ready to pick up my order as I was approaching and had the place within my view and then watched and waited as not only the people already waiting received their food (which makes sense and seemed fair since they probably ordered before me) but six groups standing in the order line ordered and received their food ahead of me. I didn't order any customizations to my food, so there was no special reason for our food to take longer.
 
We used it a few times on our recent trip to Disneyland at Bengal BBQ & Jolly Holiday. The days we used it the park wasn't that busy so it's probably not a fair judgement of it, it was useful and nice to just pay and go, but we didn't see a huge time savings.
 
Mobile order has been hit and miss for us, actually. At the Stagedoor Cafe (right outside the Golden Horseshoe), I had to wait 10 minutes after it said our order was ready to receive any help. They were pretty busy, so were focused on the huge lines of people before helping any of the mobile order line that had formed. This was pretty frustrating, because we had already got food over at Rancho del Zocalo across the way and had done the mobile order while waiting in that line so we could kill two birds with one stone. Didn't work out great though, as our food had already gotten cold by the time I got back.


Have had pretty good luck from Gibson Girl, though.
 

I like it simply because I can take my time in choosing what I want to order and have it paid before going to get it. But our experience using it has been a huge time saver so far.
 
....and the total goes straight to your credit card? What I'm asking is, you don't have to settle the bill at the hotel that day, right?
 
We discovered it about 2/3 of the way through our last trip (October) and it became a life save. When crowds are big you can wait as long in the food lines as you do for some rides. It makes the experience so much faster and easier.
 
We loved mobile ordering on our recent trip. Really saved us a lot of time, especially for items like Blue Milk in Galaxy’s Edge.
 
Mobile order with young children is a game changer. I do it every chance I get (not all places have it).


However, when it’s not working it’s beyond frustrating. Last weekend it was glitching every time I tried to use it. My award wieners order finally went through but I was charged twice (it was reversed automatically the next day). Gibson Girl never went through and I had to get in line. I was also charged twice even though the order never completed. Also autocorrected the next day.
 
I did mobile ordering on my last trip twice with mixed success. I enjoyed the lack of waiting on one order, but on the second order they... forgot me. They handed my fiance his order, told me just a second for mine... and then left me standing next to the window for about 15 minutes while filling other orders when someone finally asked me what I was waiting for.
