Hi

We are planning to buy a couple of cheap mobile phones just to stay in contact with family before and after our Disney Wedding. However as we are from the UK we do not know how this works. Do we just buy a pay as you go phone and just top it up in the Walgreens/Walmart?? or is it best just to purchase a sim card and top up somewhere. One more question do we pay for incoming calls on the cell as well as obviously the outgoing calls.:confused3

thanks.

We picked some pay as you go phones up from target for our out of the country family....yes you pay for all minutes...in and out (but we bought the cheap ones, so don’t know if its for all).....they worked very well...

they do have them at Wal-Mart as well...a lot cheaper and more variety then from Walgreens or CVS

I'd be interested in this too! I'd particularly like it if you could have a phone number assigned before we get there tho' so I can email it to Randy etc before we leave home - don't suppose this is possible is it, otherwise we'll be spending all of our minutes phoning people to give them our number!!

Dont think you get the number till you buy the phone
but you could always ring your vendors from the hotel room

i looked into this but in walmart the cheapest was like $40 and we have 30 people going to it works out expensive if you have alot to buy. I asked in carphone wearhouse what the cheapest tariff was for a prepsid sim here so we coulf just use them over there and i think it was orange

I know that Walmart has cheap Cingular prepaid phones for $18. They are small and pretty decent. DH actually bought a few to use as backups as he goes through phones like they are going out of style (lol). But seriously, he's been happy with them as a back up so I'm sure that they would work for you. You can then get what ever prepaid amount that you want for the phone. BTW, you can later use them a backups by switching out that SIM card for your regular phones SIM card.

Unfortunately she can't. These prepaid phones come locked to the specific carrier, and are usually GSM dual band phones, meaning they can't be used outside the United States. I used to work for Cingular and had this question all the time.
