hi, just back from a wonderful trip at Disney World where we looked all week for Moana, but were unable to find her! My daughter was very much looking forward to meeting her- especially since her cousin had met her this past March. We will be on the Fantasy early December and was wondering if anyone has heard / seen of Moana on any sailings? TIA!

Moana was only meeting in One Man's Dream at Hollywood Studios. But once the DVD came out, she was removed and a new home has not been found for her. I believe it is a Guardians of the Galaxy meet and Greet currently.

I don't believe she is on any ships currently. She certainly was not on the Fantasy last month. Might be difficult to cast her as she is a face character that probably has a different skin tone compared to so many other princesses.

If they're not in the parks you can almost guarantee they're not on the ships.

I feel if she ever makes it into the ships it will be a rare one (e.g., Tiana isn't on all the ships at all times, and I think Ive seen Mulan in one cast for meet and greets)

Also, when they first come out there are lots of rules etc that can make meet and greets difficult. Which is why frozen is still ticketed because they can only have photos in front of a certain back drop and aren't free to walk the ship like other princesses (same with the marvel characters).

Thank you for that information. I had no idea that tickets are now needed to see certain characters. It has been quite a while since we have been on a Disney Cruise (our last cruise was 2013). I guess I need to do some research regarding what has changed since then... lol!

Haha. You're welcome.
I beLive it's only frozen and the princess gathering that need tickets. And character breakfasts if you wanted to go. They're all free but you judt sign up online beforehand.
The other princesses and characters at the breakfasts, you will have other opportunities to see them without tickets if you are unable to get tickets for any reason.
There's plenty of info on these boards about all that though if you do a search for it.

Thanks again ! I am going to set aside some time later tonight after my kids go to sleep and do just that... These boards are an amazing source of information! :flower1:

I think Disney Shanghai has a M&G with Maui and Moana? At least they have Maui.

I missed the Moana M&G when it was at DHS for the limited time... ah well...

I'm thinking this is where the new patent for character suits may be useful - it's gonna be hard to cast Maui unless you have a Samoan or other Polynesian CM. Now they can just stick whoever in the big inflatable suit. :)

Another thing to keep in mind is that an event like the Princess Gathering is princesses who are part of Disney Princesses(TM).

Anna and Elsa are their own franchise right now.

To the best of my knowledge, Moana has not been coronated into the Princesses IP and is also her own franchise. Under typical Disney ruleset, this means she cannot be photographed with or near Official Princesses(TM), and vice versa. This is also why A&E do not appear with, say, Belle. IP rulesets.

I live near Disneyland here in California, and she has been appearing to the left of Jungle Cruise in Adventureland. Saw her a couple days ago.

I'm sorry I know this isn't the answer to the question you asked but, at least she is SOMEWHERE inside the U.S. at the moment :P
