Moana out Guardians In at DHS

Just left the theater and Vol 2 is beyond fantastic. Never have I been in a movie theater where the entire audience laughed so much. Super funny with alot of action and a few touching moments that brought a few tears to my eyes. Vol 2 blew Vol 1 out of the water and I absolutely loved Vol 1. We'll go see it again on Sunday when DH gets back in town. I'm super stoked for the HS M&G next Friday. I AM GROOT.!!!!
Completely agree we are seeing it again tomorrow.

and that is the biggest problem with real life characters.
Animated characters translate easier into meet and greets but when you see an actor on film it is hard to have a believable meet and greet
Well, technically these are comic book characters first so similar to cartoon
Granted we all know they have the M&G based on the movie being out there is at least some basis for having the character not look like the actor
It's not like they exist only in the movie

Yeah, same as when they had Maleficent from the animate movie and then from the Maleficent movie. 2 different looks

Er, that video was kind of lame. :rotfl: Baby Groot was cute.
But Star-Lord? I don't know...it's kind of like a meet and greet with Luke Skywalker, but it's not Mark Hamill.

Yea they dropped the ball on Star Lord. They should've done a meet with Star Lord with his full mask on.

I was expecting the mask, and kind of disappointed he isn't wearing it. Chris Pratt he is not, atleast with a mask on we could pretend. :)

I have never felt any meet and greets to be "believable", but I find that the ones with live actors to be much more realistic than a cartoon dog turning into a 6 foot tall plush toy standing on 2 legs with arms, or a cartoon character turning into a human. But a convincing face character with similar mannerisms and facial features can look pretty close to the real thing.

But did he need to be Chris Pratt? Or did he need to resemble the character Star Lord? From what I've seen from the comic book images, he does. No?

@AngiTN Respectfully, it is a small sub-set of comic book nerds (I live with one) that actually read the Guardians of The Galaxy comics. Most, and I do mean most, people going to Disney are solely going to associate Star-Lord with Chris Pratt.

Superman? I can see. Batman, I can see.

This is just kind of lame. :)

Fair enough. I did concede that too. But it doesn't mean they are wrong in the way they cast him.

And I don't read comics myself. Never seen one. But, I do know the origin of all things Marvel is Comic Books. I figure most folks do, even if they don't read them.

My 9 year old son is going to be over the moon. We go in mid june, I hope they are still there. Starlord is his hero.

Saw Guardians 2 this morning. It was much better than the first one. Planning to see it again tomorrow.

My guess regarding starlord not being masked is that Disney needs him to talk and be understood. It seems like part of his role in the meet and greet is to interpret for baby groot, who (I think) is the bigger attraction. Having him wear the mask would likely make that more difficult, even if it would help the look of the character.

We did the Star Lord and Groot Meet and Greet today ... I am not a Guardians of the Galaxy super fan and did it just because the line was short and I wanted to see Baby Groot in person. Baby Groot was adorable- but I felt like the meet and greet felt really weird. The Star Lord seemed to just have a spiel and nothing was organic. I assume some of that will work itself out in time.

That's exactly how I felt when I met Moana. She had a few lines she was going to say no matter what, and she said them. With other characters there was more give and take.

I mean if it was a fan con or something that would be passible but that is a horrible looking star lord...

First one where I have seen selfies with Groot being allowed. That is good to know! :D Need one of StarLord, but Groot kind of hides in the wide shot.

Oh yikes....agree. He's kinda nerdy looking...no offense to the actor. He just doesn't look like a superhero (just like I don't look like a supermodel).

You know...with Cons and Cosplay the way they are, parks really need to step up their game. For example, one weekend a couple of years ago, I went to a con on Saturday and Six Flags on Sunday. I was determined to get some Superhero pics at Six Flags, but then I saw Green Lantern and Flash walking towards us. I had way better pics from the comic con than the what appeared to be off the Walmart rack costumes these characters were wearing. Star Lord here has the clothes, Disney is very good with that. But you are right, the face doesn't really fit.

As for the comic, again, look at the clothes. They are taking the movie version here, not the comic version. In Disneyland, they have had Thor which is a very easy one to cast as he has a certain type of look and has been in a lot more material. Star Lord is more comparable to Disney casting a guy for a Tony Stark meet and greet. You aren't going to get someone that looks just like RDJ. I will still get my photo op with him, but I do wish he had the mask.
