My DSIL and her husband are taking their nearly 3 year old (while he's still free!!) in Oct. She asked me if I thought they should do the party...I haven't done it, and I think that it would be awesome, but I have a hard time thinking it would be worth it for them. They're only there for a short trip and I think that my nephew might not make it late enough to make the party worth it. What do you think? He's their only child and the absolute focus of the trip.

I am sure he would like the party...but honestly I think it depends on whether he is enough of a night owl to make it worth the time and $$....mine would have been a bit overwhelmed at that age by it all.

If they are going to be there over Halloween proper, I would strongly suggest skipping the party and doing some of the resort activities....we were there last year for Halloween with some friends...my teens and the dads did the party, but my friend and I stayed at OKW with her sons (both have special needs)....there were a lot of fun activities and trick ot treating at the resort that was MUCH more their speed (and I think would be more fun for little ones)...we rode the boat over to SSR that evening and similar things were going on there...also saw a lot of kids trick or treating at DTD....

I would probably not do the party unless Mom and Dad really want to do it and take him along for the ride.

I took my DD for her 3rd birthday last year and I am going to give you a resounding NO!!

She liked seeing the characters in costume and we got way more candy than she could ever eat - I really don't think we got our money's worth -

in 4 years - I definately want to go again but not with toddlers!

We took our 2 year old son and 11 month old daughter on a Sunday night in 2003 and they liked it. We loved it! Of course they were free and we only paid for DH and I. We dressed them up as Mickey and Minnie and they spent most of the time in their strollers. My son trick or treated a bit and was thrilled to have his picture taken with all the Pooh characters that were in Halloween costumes. He loved the parade, and we loved taking them on their favorite rides with no lines! We're going back again this October and will definitely do it again.

I guess making the call depends on what you want to get out of it. My husband loved the relative emptiness of the park on the night we went, and we really liked the Halloween theming. This year, the kids (4 and almost 3) will get alot more out of it.

I wanted to add that we had a light park day on that day and the kids took a nap in the afternoon so they could handle the evening party. We were at the party from 6:00 till 9:00 p.m.

Thanks for the info guys. That was pretty much what I thought. They'll be there in early October, so no other Halloween activities, but he'll be alright. It's not like there's nothing else to do!
