I've pretty much nixed the idea of this for my kids (ages 2, 2, and 4), if only because it doesn't even start until 7pm (my kids usually are in bed by then). but part of me would love to see it. I have this little voice in the back of my head saying, see how they are, and if there are tix available that day (does that ever even happen?) then maybe, maybe. but then the other little voice says, even if they could stay up for a couple of hours, your kids will freak out because of ghosts and goblins and villains and such.

has anybody ever gone with young kids? how was your experience?

I am taking a 3 year old.....we will relax by the pool and have lunch at the resort, back to the room to relax and hopefully nap. CHef Mickeys for 5pm dinner and then to the party......I think she will be so excited she will stay awake for the entire thing.

They will let you in the park at 4 but the fun doesnt start until 7

Would you consider a babysitting service that comes to the hotel so you can go? I know there are several reputable companies that have someone who will come to your room and they make it a blast for the children. I am going with my two children who will be turning 5 the day we go. I have nothing planned except 11:20 CM and am hoping to have a lazy day, maybe even nap although maybe wishful thinking since it is their birthday. I also have a quiet night planned for the night before so they get to bed on time (we are doing AK which closes at 5 I believe and nothing planned after that except back to the hotel).

I took my DD4 last year, and she enjoyed it, up until she fell asleep in her stroller right before the parade :lmao:

She wasn't scared at all - she really enjoyed showing off her princess dress and meeting some of the characters that aren't always around - and the fireworks show was great! :thumbsup2

Last year we went and my girls were 9, 3, and 1. We went and they loved it. The 3 & 1 y/o fell asleep about 11:30pm, and they didn't even have a nap during the day. I think just being at Disney changed everyones schedule a little bit, and with all the excitement they kind of willed themselves to stay awake. I think you should take them. If ou want, don't do anything else during the day. Sleep in, go to the pool, nap and then go to the party. Let them stay up for as long as they can and then leave(or let them sleep in the stroller while you watch a parade or whatever). I'm sure they would enjoy it.

I'll be taking my 5 & 2 year olds this year. There's a 4 hour time difference between home and WDW, and we're doing MNSSHP on one of the first days we're there, so I'm just planning on keeping them on our home time zone schedule.
