MNSSHP: What were your costumes last year?

I have never been to MNSSHP, and was just curious to see what you creative people dressed up like last year. And what ideas do you have for this year??

Last year I was a Care Bear and DH was the Crocodile Hunter....home-made, cheap and cool....IT WAS HOT!!!

I went as a pink flamingo - got a flamingo hat online (sprung for the version with the wire in the neck so it would stay erect), painted my face bright pink with black lips and eyes, and sewed bright pink feathers from a cheap feather boa to the neck and sleeve ends of a bright pink t-shirt. My family wouldn't even walk with me as we made our way thru the lobby of the GF and onto the monorail - but were we invited to be in the parade that evening? Why yes, yes we were. I second the advice of the previous poster - it is hot, so resist the temptation to do anything that requires a heavy costume.

We went last year. DH and I dresses as a Trading Spaces team in the red shirts that I had ordered online for about $2.50 each and then we dressed our DD as a carpenter, complete with tool belt and Halloween bandana. LOL Rebecca

We went last year. My DD (13) didn't really want to dress up, but she finally decided to be a pirate. My other DD(8) wanted to be Morticia Addams...could not talk her out of it. She did get a LOT of attention from one CM at HM. She followed Carson around and Carson was trying to act like she had no idea she was back so maybe she would go away! The CM finally told her they would be best friends...FOREVER! Carson got a kick out of that! Couldn't talk DH into dressing up but we did see one family that were all in prison stripes and the couple who were grand marshalls were Alladin and Jasmine and they did look awesome!

My husband and I have dressed as Disney Characters every year. I hand make the costumes (which have gotten more elaborate every year). This past year we were Mary Poppins and Burt. We've also been Cinderella and Prince Charming, Alice and Tweedel Dee and a friend was Tweedle Dum, Pocahontas and John Smith, Woody and Jessie, Peter Pan and Tinkerbell (friends were Captain Hook and Tiger Lily) and Mouseketeers. We always get a lot of people commenting on our costumes and asking to take pictures with us. We haven't decided this years theme yet. The weather can be VERY tricky, the weather changes quickly, so it's tough to plan whether it will be hot or cold. Of course, living in south Fl., we consider 60 to be cold!

I am going as Wendy to my first MNSSHP this year... DH will be Peter Pan, and DD2 will be Tinkerbell.

Last year DH was Jack Sparrow, I was a pirate, DD was Tinkerbell and other DD was "pixie dust"! The year before that DH was Jack Skellington, I was Sally and DD was a bumblebee fairy....(we didn't have 2nd DD yet!)

Going to our first Halloween party this year!! Dd is going as Tink, her girlfriend will be going as Ariel. The other mom isn't into 'dressing up', so I guess we'll lowkey it...maybe some Disney Halloween teeshirts or such.

In 2005, we went as Annette and Cubby. We basically wore our mouse ears, black shorts/skirt, and we made up the t-shirts at home. Simple and easy...I now wear the shirt as a house shirt.

In 2003, we went as a pirate and wench. We bought those costumes from a Halloween store.

Last year my husband dressed as a gangster and I went as a flapper. Then our oldest daughter wore a full length white prom dress with a masquarade mask and our youngest daughter was the Queen of Hearts.

Last year I made costumes for myself & DH - Maleficent & Prince Philip.

DD already had a blue Aurora gown that a friend made for her to wear to the Tea in 2005.

We got a lot of attention, but it was too hot.

This year we'll wear Halloween t-shirts.
