MNSSHP - Wedding Dress?

:firefight I am putting on my flame suit first.....here it comes. As a former Disney bride who could not afford the high cost of the special MK photo package, I personally(and I said personally) find the thought of someone coming in their wedding attire at a MNSSHP offensive. I was married on Oct 30th, 2004 and the idea didn't even cross my mind. I know there are several threads where people who want others to follow the rules are mocked and riduculed, but the rules are the rules, even at a halloween party. I was blessed to have a small intimate wedding with pictures of the castle in the background(we were married at the Poly). The OP dress is beautiful, but it doesn't look like a costume. OK, flame away.

OP, I do wish you a happy and blessed marriage, and a very fun Disneymoon!

last year i saw a handful of brides in full wedding attire @ mnsshp. one walked in right infront of me and they let her and her dh in his tux pass. to be 100% sure, id call wdw and ask. they afterall are the ones making the decision...

Just here to say that your dress is absolutely stunning!! have a wonderful honeymoon!

I'm not going to flame you, and I'm generally a rule follower as well. But... and here's the thing... A guest's self-imposed rules aren't really directives that other people have to obey. Disney seems to allow this. Many of us have seen women in wedding dresses in the MK during MNSSHP. Disney allows them in. Would you also be offended if a man in a tux & a woman in a pink gown went as "Prom Couple"? The only substantive difference is dress color.

And all the other people in Disney-approved costumes are having Photopass shots taken. No one says they are being inappropriate. So why can't "bride" and "groom" use Photopass? Because on other days and times they'd have to pay more? But Disney has said guests in costumes (which it has allowed to be wedding outfits) can be in the park at that time, and utilize the available photographers, without additional fees.

This doesn't appear to be against any rules. Well, any current Disney rules, in any case. I share your distaste if bride, groom, 6 bridesmaids, matching groomsmen, flower girl, ringbearer, parents & grandparents showed up all in wedding gear for Photopass. THAT is clearly a wedding photoshoot. But a single couple dressed in complementary outfits is just like a couple dressed as Mr & Mrs Incredible, or Mickey & Minnie, or a salt & a pepper shaker. They've simply selected a different "paired" outfit. Heck, people who have never been married a day in their lives can dress as "bride" and "groom" for Halloween. It's a costume party!

If Disney wanted to prevent this, they could stop allowing wedding outfits at the party. As long as the outfits are allowed, then taking pictures while dressed up is allowed, just like every other guest in the park. That's how I see it, anyway.

Like I said, I'm a rule follower as well. I just don't see the benefits of following imaginary rules.

OK--wedding professional here. I have worked in the bridal industry for almost 20years.

Harlow is a beautiful gown--congrats on a lovely choice! As far as wedding gowns go, not terribly heavy--I don't think that will be an issue. I'm assuming that you will have a bustle put in the gown for your reception; that will also allow you to move around the MK without people stepping on your gown. However, you're in a theme park. Will the bottom of your dress be pristine when you get back to your room? Nope.

Weigh your options, and decide what works best for you!

I understand what you are pointing out, and I could have gotten away with the "costume rules" as there was a MNSSHP the night of our wedding. It just didn't cross my mind to walk in with my DH in his tux with the black and white Mickey Head vest and tie and go in front of the castle with 20000 other guests to get a picture.

Like I said before I am the "lone wolf" out here who doesn't think that just because it is one of the few times that you can get away with wearing a wedding dress and suit makes it right. Just my very lone humble opinion.

*Edited to add: The Disney Bridal Session in the Magic Kingdom is for the Bride and Groom only, not the wedding party unless you have a Magic Kingdom Ceremony or Vow Renewal.

We are having a memories wedding at Disney on Halloween day and we fully intend to wear our wedding gear at MNSSHP the same night.
We are getting married on that day (flying over from the UK) because we are an 'alternative' couple ;-)
My fiancé's wedding suit is very 'vamp' and my dress is a traditional ivory dress (similar fit to yours) but I've had it altered with lots of black cobweb lace.
We marry at 1pm near the grand Floridian and we have dinner reservation at cinderella's castle at 4:20 then on to MNSSHP.
It's just me, my hubby-to-be and our 2 kids.
I love the idea of hiring a locker and taking a separate lightweight costume so that we can change if we wish but I am planning on wearing my dress for as long as I can - hopefully all night.
It is our first trip to WDW, and it will probably be our last due to finances so I really want to make it as special as we can.
We have had a totally rubbish year and this wedding and holiday of a life time have been the shining light at the end of a long dark tunnel.
We will never again get married, never again spend our favourite day of the year in Disney world and we plan to fully enjoy both experiences and tie both together and enjoy every second.
To have wonderful photo pass pictures of us enjoying ourselves (after already paying Disney a lot of money for our ceremony photoshoot) would be lovely, it's our special day and the only guests we have are 2 children so couple shots of us on our own would be impossible after the Disney wedding photographer.
I wouldnt enjoy a MK Disney photoshoot. Getting up at stupid o'clock, no kids allowed, it not even being on our wedding day etc etc I want pictures of our day as it happens, of us having fun and laughing with our kids :)
We plan to have as much fun as possible and to laugh our way through the night.
When we return to the uk we are having a fancy dress reception... So if my wedding dress gets ruined at Disney then I will just alter it into a reception 'corpse bride' dress :)

I think it is a bit unsporting to be against someone making the most of a 'loop hole' just because you didn't think to do it yourself.

Love your dress.

I say go for it ( as long as you bustle the dress for safety). If you are like me, my wedding dress especially the bottom was filthy by the end of my wedding, so what's a little more Disney dirt going to do. Plus I see this as no different than a trash the dress photoshoot that is common nowadays. Also, if you are like the majority of women I know you won't even fit in the dress a few years from now, not that you would wear it anywhere anyway. Also, most people I know couldn't nor would they want to wear their mom's wedding dress at their wedding, so saving for the future rarely works out.

My sister ended up wearing my mom's wedding dress that she had saved to pass down, for Halloween one year.

I'd bring it but just put it on late in the evening as the park starts to clear out. (Store it in a locker). If you hang out long enough you might get an uncrowded photo up near the castle. Just remember while they won't chase you to the exit, the photopass photogs will go in at (or maybe a little before?????) closing and good photos by the castle late at night require a tripod. So find out how late PP is out, and aim for that.

I saw photos another poster did in her wedding gown, so I bet you'll be fine.

ETA: I love the idea of having it on early to take pics with the characters. So maybe do that, then change for the bulk of the evening, then put it back on at the end??? I just love night shots in front of the castle, and I'm thinking it might be a little less crowded.

I'd also add that it can still be pretty hot/humid in October. For your future-DH, it might not the most comfortable thing to be wearing a suit.

I was going to say this same thing :goodvibes It's so hot that I can't imagine wearing a beaded wedding dress or a suit. I wanted a sweaty smiley but this one will work :scared:
