MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

When I was calling to add tickets and the QSDP to my room only reservation at AKL. The cm almost had me buying tickets. I thought we would skip the MNSSHP this year. SO much for that ideas. He gave me the dates so I need to figure our which one now. Last year we went twice so I thought we would skip it. We love it so I'm sure I will buy them.

How did you find going twice? How old are your kids - did they enjoy going twice? We went once last year but found it wasn't enough time to do the things we wanted. We will be at WDW for the last week of october this year. This is the last year we will be pulling DD out of school for a trip, and will likely never be back for MNSSHP. I am thinking about going twice (there are 5 parties while we are there!), but I don't want the kids to be bored the second time around.

We always try to attend any hard ticketed party twice if we can. Bored? Not a chance. There is too much to do. It's almost impossible to do it all in one night.

I have found that attending the party twice takes the pressure off of trying to squeeze it all in and I can relax and enjoy it more.

Listening to "BOO TO YOU" right now...getting excited for the partay!

Why, oh why, is it so very far away?

This will be my 3rd MNSSHP. However, we are going much earlier than in the past. Have been Nov. 1, Oct 16...this year Sep 21st.

Is it any different earlier on in the year? Do less people dress up?

It's just the DW and I and we bought tickets for two nights when we go in Sept. We did the same thing for MVMCP and that works out great. We found that it gives us more time to do and see everything and not feel rushed, and it also helps account for weather issues etc.

Thanks to all of you, this thread has been great and eye opening. A;; these tips will be a huge help for us when we get there. We are going for the first time on Oct. 17th, I think or Oct. 18th. The kids are so excited and these tips will be a great help.

Is the Halloween merchandise available only at the MNSSHP or is it out in the parks/resorts during the fall months? I'm assuming the specific MNSSHP t-shirts etc are only during the parties same as the MVMCP ones.

We are going to MNSSHP Oct 28th! can't wait!! It looks so fun.

This will be my first time going to MNSSHP and I'm so excited! We've never gone to WDW in October before and this is the first year that it works out. DH was born on Halloween so it is his absolute favorite holiday. He's always been wanting to go to WDW for Halloween and for MNSSHP. We're going the 17th - 24th of October and will wait until closer to the date to figure out which day we want to go.

just wondering...how do they kick out those who don't have tickets for MNSSHP at park closing? surely it is impossible to kick EVERYONE out?

They just start checking for wristbands. It's a gradual process, and I suppose close to around 7 they have the majority of non-party-ers out of the park. Never really stood around to watch the whole thing work, but I have seen cast members politely ushering people out as the party got underway. Those people weren't too happy either. They should have done their homework:rotfl:

haha i wonder how many people without wristbands hide in shops until the coast is clear! or keep their hands in their pockets while they watch the parade :rotfl:

It's an ongoing process. They have signs upon entering that the park is closing at 7:00p that day due to the party.

Then around 6p they start announcing that if you are not attending the party you can buy tickets or you will have to leave.

Also they have hundreds of CMs whose sole purpose is to check for wristbands, all along Main Street, at entrances to shops and bathrooms and at the entrance to each land. They will ask everyone going by to show their wristbands and if they do not have them, direct them toward the exit.

They will not let those without wristbands ride rides, trick or treat, use the restrooms or make purchases after 7:00p.

It's not perfect (and I wish they close for an hour again like they used to to clear the park out) but the CMs do an amazing job considering there are thousands of guests that need to leave. :thumbsup2

I have been looking for a thread like this. We are going to our 1st MNSSHP in October we are so excited to read this post :cool1::thumbsup2:banana::yay:

I too wish they would clear the park like they used to. But they do get most people removed early on although when they line the parade route and ask to see wristbands I have seen them have to ushed many people out. We have gotten great spots for the parade by being able to move into spots where people had to leave because they did not have tickets.

This thread is great, I've found so much information for our trip this year, my dbf and I are going to the first MNSSHP this year in september, I was wondering if anyone knew how the fantasyland rehab is going to affect meeting the characters and things. Specifically I was wondering about Mickey and Minnie, and Snow White and the 7 Drawfs. We've never gone so I've been making a plan based on last years reports from this thread but I'm worried we're not going to be able to see the characters we definitely want to see. Thanks so much for your help!

one more question! please enlighten if you know any info! :worship:

my bf and I always spend full days at the parks so we get the base tickets. on the night that we go to MNSSHP, can we go to another park instead of magic kingdom during the day? we're thinking of going to epcot until 4pm and then hopping over to MK. i figure since MNSSHP is after MK park hours, it would be fine?

thanks for any info! :)
