HI,

When can you buy tickets for the MHSSHP? I see a recommendation you get tickets in advance, and it also says that Fridays sell out quicker. Is it hard getting tickets? We are planning on attending Friday evening as it will be our last night at Disney so thought it would be a fun way to end our trip.

Tickets typically go on sale on or around May 1. Most dates do not sell out, but it cannot be predicted (except Halloween will always sell out). For a look at the dates that sold out last year, you can see them in post 1 of my guest list thread. It is written in green next to each date...

We always buy our tickets when they go on sale. We like to pick the day that fits best in our schedule. We don't worry about the weather because in October, the weather can be so unpredictable that even if you wait until the week you are there, it can drastically change. We don't want to risk a possible sell out of our best fitting date, either, so we buy them right away. Most sell outs don't happen until late summer hits.

Although some might sell out, they won't sell out within a day of going on sale. This isn't a One Direction concern or anything.

If you know what day you're going, you will be fine whenever you see the announcement. Keep an eye on the big social media spots if you like, check back here a couple times a week and you will be okay.

Thank you. I do get the DIS Update emails so guess it will be in there....or even threads on this site. So basically if we buy when they go on sale, we'll be fine (even if a Fri night...but not the 31st)? It's not one of the 'sold out' dates noted in your thread from last year.

You will be fine. In 2012, Halloween night didn't sell out until Oct. 28. That is not the norm, but sell outs don't typically occur until August or so. Also, be sure to check the RunDisney event schedule, as the parties around races tend to have higher crowds. Fridays will always be crowded because the locals attend. Sundays and Tuesdays are best for lower crowds, but even sold out parties are better than normal MK days.

Yes, you should be fine.

Thanks...yeah, I heard to warning about Fridays being a bit busier since locals will attend. Makes sense. We arrive on a Sunday so don't want to make that a late night...esp as my younger one will only be 5. And Tues was planning on HS with Fantasmic. And thought that the party would be a fun way to end the trip. Hopefully won't be too crazy crowded. I think our whole planning is against the 'crowd' list, since that's just how it works out best.

I've never paid attention to crowd calendars in terms of scheduling park days. One year I checked the "parks to avoid" list just for fun, and we were going to those parks every single day (we LOVE evening EMH)! :rotfl2: Still had a fabulous vacation. :goodvibes

Very good to know. I almost feel like I'm a kid...whose mom warns them not to touch the hot stove, yet I do it anyways....:rotfl:

I would pick MNSSHP over Fantasmic to end a trip any day, but my kids were petrified of Fantasmic. With a 5 year old, I'd probably totally skip Fantasmic, but that's just me.

Yeah, I've been warned of it, and my daughter gets quite scared anyways. I think my 9 year old son would enjoy it though...so we may have one of us leave with my daughter if she doesn't like it. Not sure why they would make it like that for a kids show.

My kids love Fantasmic, and have since they were 2 and 4. I suggest letting your 5 year old watch it on YouTube so she can see it beforehand. There are very few scary parts, and seeing the boat of characters in the finale may help her stick with it to the end. It is a great show.

I would recommend buying your MNSSHP tickets in advance. Most of the nights do tend to sell out either the day of the party or a couple of days beforehand. It seems that more October parties sell out than September ones. When we were there last year, all 3 nights of the party over Columbus Day weekend had sold out. With that said, you probably don’t need to buy tickets right on May 1st when they are first released. We usually buy ours in July or August and have never had an issue getting tickets to the parties we wanted.

We went October 17 last year and I bought tix the week before we left, having a choice of all available dates during our visit (17th-25th). It's a hard ticket event so I wanted to at least have a guess at the weather. Booked for early in trip so I could have a backup in case of rain/cancellation.

Yeah...it's all a gamble with the rain. I remember last Oct 31st (not at DW), it was just pouring. But our kids still went out trick or treating.

One more question about the MNSSHP. Do they have fireworks? If so, is it every night of the party, and what time? I'm not sure we'll make the Wishes fireworks so would love to catch them one night. The pictures look so beautiful with the castle and the fireworks behind. And my kids have never seen fireworks.

Yes, that and the light show and stage show at the castle was the prime reason we went.

Hallowishes is at 9:30, and the Boo To You parade runs at 8:15 and 10:30.

Great. Thanks for the info. Wish they didn't make the fireworks so late for little ones. :guilty:

Hallowishes is NOT to be missed. Neither is the parade. The second parade is WAY LESS crowded, but obviously is late.

Can you sleep in and take naps that afternoon to make it a late night?

You'd be surprised how different kids can be at WDW. Kids who normally pass out by 8pm at home, can easily last to 11pm. My kids have been going to the party for years, and they easily last until 2am. They insist on staying until the end and then coming back to the resort to count the candy and eat some.:rotfl: if you think they will nap, hit rope drop at a park that morning and then head to your resort for lunch and a solid nap. Head to MK for 4pm entry with just your party ticket. The later you stay at the party, the lower the crowds get.
