MNSSHP solo- what do you do there?

Hello! I am excited, I am doing this MNSSHP on Oct 30th solo and I am staying 10 so I can do the first night of MVMCP!!
I am interested in the plan of attack to get into the park to start with, does the party start at 7pm? what is the best recommended time to get there? I was going to book dinner at maybe 5:30? any suggestions?

I've gone to 2 parties on nearly every solo trip for the past 5 years (yeah - I like Halloween. LOL) I meet the characters, trick or treat, watched the parades and shows. I've done the dance parties, ridden rides and had a blast. I dress up in costume - my fav so far was the Evil Queen and I had a heart box with a glow in the dark heart that everybody loved. The makeup was tricky but I figured it out (glue sticks for covering up my eyebrows were key to doing the eyebrows).

My upcoming Sept. trip - I'm kinda sad I'll only be doing one party but that's do to it being a shorter trip - I can't decide what to dress up as!

I have been fortunate that in 2014 and 2015 I had work conventions in October in Orlando. One was at the Contemporary and one was at the Gaylord Palms. I attended the party solo both years and it was FABULOUS! The first year I watched all the shows, parade, fireworks, rode lots of rides and did a little trick or treating. The second year, I made a goal to see just how much candy I could get through trick or treating and focused on that. It was a lot of fun...I got 5 bags! (took it all home and handed it out at work) I also watched the parade and Hallowishes, but did not ride very many rides.

I managed to get a conference approved for the first week of October at Disney. So I am combining my annual Halloween trip and the conference. It is at the Contemporary but I may have to stay at Pop to keep the budget down. Or I may splurge because I will never be able to afford the Contemporary at regular prices. I have been to MNSSHP about 6 times, all solo. I typically go twice and concentrate on character meets one night and everything else the other.

Although the publicized and "official" time for the party to start is 7 p.m., it is common knowledge among repeat partiers and on these boards that you can get in with just your party ticket at 4 pm. The official party activities won't start until 7 p.m. but the last two years they have started some of the most in-demand character meets as early as 5 p.m. i.e. 7 dwarves, Jack & Sally.
