MNSSHP solo- what do you do there?

Stand corrected. But the fireworks dessert party is still there. My brother thought about doing it, but it wouldn't work for our family (cuts into the time we want for meeting characters/treats and the all- important dancing like maniacs at dance party with characters.)

You will have a blast. I have gone several years and always go solo cuz I always travel solo! I usually go twice on a trip so one night I can concentrate on character meet and greets and the other night I can concentrate on shows and general ambiance without an agenda. My favorite part is the parade and the special fireworks. A lot of the focus in the entertainment is on the Villains, which makes for a more dynamic feel than the regular princesses and pixie dust. If you want to do a lot of meet & greets you will need to have a "plan of attack" but also since you are solo getting the one-day photopass/memory maker is a great deal. It has been around $40-50 the last few years. You get it at one of the guest services locations.

My DD(21) and I went to Disneyland for the MNSSHP last year and YES both of us went trick or treating and I had a blast. We did dress up. I had purchased a black short cape
from Party City along with a headband which had a witches hat and wore a black shirt with villainesses on the front. DD wore a Pizza Planet shirt that she made
and a green martian hat she also picked up at Party Hat. I also made each of us a canvas trick or treating bag by using disney halloween greeting cards. (copied the card onto iron transfer).
Costumes and canvas bag easily fit into our luggage. This year we will be attending the first MNSSHP at WDW and again will dress up and trick or treat. pooh:

Most of our costumes for the parties have been regular clothes with a few fun accessories, they don't have to be super complicated.

I LOVE your ideas! Thank you!

You will love the Halloween Party especially the fireworks and the parade which are both special for Halloween. Adam and I went to the Halloween party many times and actually went last year the night before Halloween. It was a sold out party and packed especially around the Main Street area. The lines for trick or treating were all super long except for the "trick or treat trail" back in Fantasy Land down past the train station its a path with 5 treat stops that takes you through to Tomorrow Land. You will pick up an empty trick or treat bag when you enter the park. (Take 2)
You can enter the park as early as 4:00 even though the letter that comes with your ticket says 7:00. The party activities ie shows and trick or treating won't begin until 7:00 but you can do rides as soon as you get there.
Thank you! I'd really like to meet all the characters!! (But the trick or treating sounds good too ;) )

I went last year alone and I had so much fun I am going again this year
Awesome! Thanks!

I know someone answered you, but they do run the parade twice, and the second one is usually less crowded. It is the same parade though.

The Trick-or-Treat stations are setup in areas (look for the large, lighted pumpkin signs) and you go down a little trail and get candy at each stop. You can do this as much as you want. Some people bring their own candy bag because the one tehy give you isn't that big (though they will give you a second one if you ask). The best time is toward the end of the night as the lines are shorter and they are trying to finish out their current supply so they will give you handfuls of candy. It's the good stuff too. None of that generic orange and black peanut butter cement stuff. We're talking name brand! It's pretty cool.
Nice!
Oh my gosh, it seems like 5 hours won't be nearly enough to meet all the characters AND trick or treat AND watch the shows.... :sad2:

Also, think about doing either the fireworks dessert party or the castle villain party, since you are solo and don't have candy loving kids to worry about. The fireworks party might be a good idea since you get fireworks viewing, parade viewing and a buffet of treats verses the little treats at the castle party. And dress up!! Its fun!
Thank you! I'm actually not that into desserts- if it was a meal, something savory, I'd go for it for sure!
I have to start thinking of what I'm going to wear :scratchin

Perfect, thanks!

Oh gosh, if I didn't have a budget problem I would definitely consider going twice!! How will I fit everything into 5 hours?? :faint:
Oh, and I already purchased Memory Maker for the duration of my trip so at least that's covered! :cool1:

Sounds great! Thank you for the ideas!

Thank you sooo much! I just started watching little bits of the party on YouTube and it looks amazing! :cloud9:
MNSSHP is soooo fun! You gotta go! :goodvibes I have a blast every time i go. Totally worth it. At the end of the night I have a ton of candy. Good stuff too! I went alone last year and had a blast. Actually, technically I wasn't alone though as I met up with a fellow disser. So we did the parks together. It was fun. You should check out the solo board and see if you can meet up with someone too.

You can get into the park with your MNSSHP ticket at 4pm.

Also, if you don't have enough room to bring a full on costume, think about going disneybound style. I wore a red & white polka dots dress and my sparkly Minnie Mouse ears when I went to MNSSHP in 2014. During my vacation last year, I went during MVMCP, and on that trip, I brought some cute outfits to DisneyBound with just clothes I had in my closet and did a little nod to Belle, Ariel, and Snow White. For Belle, I had a yellow skirt and yellow shirt, Lumiere charm bracelet, red purse, and a red rose necklace. Ariel, I had a green skirt, purple shirt, dinglehopper / mermaid charm bracelet and red purse. For Snow White, the yellow skirt again, blue top, red purse, Minnie Mouse ears and a Snow White themed charm bracelet.

Hope you have a great time! I really enjoyed MNSSHP, even though it was busier than I thought it'd be. Halloween is my favorite holiday though, so I may be biased. Loved the parade with the Grave Diggers and Haunted Mansion dancers. Hallowishes was awesome, too. I didn't get any trick or treat candy, not my thing, so idk anything about that. The parade, fireworks and rides, as well as the atmosphere, (looking at all the costumes) were my focus. I only met with Jack Sparrow. Only waited about ten - fifteen minutes. Most of the character's lines were very long. Also, Main Street and the hub, tends to be pretty crowded during these parties. So, depending on what you decide to do, it may feel more or less crowded to you.

I dressed up last year for the first time. I kind of stole some ideas from the runDisney folks where they wear a tutu and other accessories that look like the character, a lot like the Disney Bounding. I found a red petticoat thing that was really intended to go under another skirt to fluff it up, I added two silk flowers to the front to simulate Mickey's buttons, wore black runner capris and shirt, then wore my sequined Mickey ears (I pulled the bow off because I wanted to be Mickey not Minnie!). My original plan was to make a tulle tutu, but it turned out so big it would have needed its own suitcase not to mention caused issues everytime I needed to go to the bathroom!

Here are a few of my M&G pics from last year using the Photopass.

Me and Peter Pan (this was actually late afternoon before the party started) - https://flic.kr/p/JA8tzL
And my favorite Villain - Cruella. She is a hoot! - https://flic.kr/p/JU4TJi

I also have trick or treated every time I have gone. I just jump in the short lines and in the long trail between the circus area and tomorrowland. If you do only a few of them, you will get plenty of candy.

Thank you, I love your polka dot dress!! I'll definitely try some plan of attack to meet as many characters as possible and I'll look into the DisneyBound thing for a costume :)

Awesome costume!! I'm gonna try and find a full list of characters and see who it's worth standing in line for. (I'll have plenty of time in the MK on other days so I'd only really want the unique or dressed up characters.)
Thank you for the tips!

Check out Kenny the Pirates review of last years party he has a list of all the characters

I love that shirt you are wearing with your Ariel outfit. It looks great on you! I'd love to know where you got it.
Thanks! I actually ordered the tank top from fullbeauty.com and then someone put the vinyl decals on it with a heat press for me!

I went solo to MNSSHP last year & have a ticket for this Fall as well! Loved it. The PPs have mentioned a couple of tips eg 1) be at the MK entrance by 3:45pm that day as you will be admitted at 4pm (last yr there was a dedicated gate to the right of the main entrance). 2) you can make 3 FP+ with your party ticket for 4-7pm 3) when you first enter, ride your first FP ride, maybe grab the souvenir Keys to the Kingdom card at the Firehouse on Main Street & eat CS in the park so you can be in and out to enjoy the party in approx 30 mins or so. TS takes a lot of time at the party when you may wish to be out and enjoying the activities 4) the Haunted Mansion party overlay is incredible. Don't miss Madame Renata or Carlotta on the HM front lawn 5) the parades are incredible 6) the Hocus Pocus stage show was wonderful. Consider a light & easy costume to deal with the heat & to allow you full mobility to get on the rides. eg last year, I went with a simple "t-shirt" costume so easy to pack & wear. Some people don't dress up at all and no problem with that either. I enjoyed people watching as some costumes were truly intricate & incredible. Foodie wise, there are often party-specific cupcakes at eg Gastons, Main Street Bakery & sometimes Sleepy Hollow. I didn't do much trick or treating but did get a handful of candy on my way out of the park. For international guests, bring your printed paper ticket confirmation w you to the park & they will put a party band on your wrist at entrance. Also check out other blogs including Tom Bricker & Kenny the Pirate. Enjoy!

Hi Jerusalem Gal, I'm from Israel, too! I'm hoping to be at the MNSSHP in September 2016!!!!!!
AWESOME!!!!!!! I saw you on Odelia's TR thread too! So glad to have some fellow Israelis to chat with! :D

Thank you so much! :)
My focus won't be on rides at all (maybe HM) because I'll be spending plenty of time in the park on other days. And I definitely won't waste precious time on food- I'll have a late lunch and that'll have to be it ;)

The best thing about being solo is that you get to do whatever you want!!
I personally would spend my evening the exact same way I would if I was with people, watch both parades, watch the stage show a couple of times, pop through a character line or two, watch the fireworks, and maybe do 1 trick or treat stop to keep me filled for the evening!

I just bought my MNSSHP ticket for Sept 20 today and it's going to be both my 1st MNSSHP and my 1st solo trip.

I'm debating about a costume?

I have been fortunate that in 2014 and 2015 I had work conventions in October in Orlando. One was at the Contemporary and one was at the Gaylord Palms. I attended the party solo both years and it was FABULOUS! The first year I watched all the shows, parade, fireworks, rode lots of rides and did a little trick or treating. The second year, I made a goal to see just how much candy I could get through trick or treating and focused on that. It was a lot of fun...I got 5 bags! (took it all home and handed it out at work) I also watched the parade and Hallowishes, but did not ride very many rides.
