I'm going to guess that if tonight is sold out, tomorrow will also be sold out.
Friday night will usually sell better than a weeknight for general reasons.

(And, lot's of guests rolling in for the long (for some) weekend.)

Some of the school districts don't have school tomorrow (I'm not sure about Orange County specifically), so I imagine the crowds this weekend in the parks and at MNSSHP will be very high.

Fall Break in Kentucky. We almost went this week, but ended up going last week instead due to work conflicts with my husband. I'm assuming a lot of people who are on break this week probably had the same idea as us!

I think the whole state is here!! I'm your neighbor to the north.

If it is sold out, it will be crowded. We went on a sold out night and it was packed.

Good luck.

Can you give more info re: crowds? What were the waits like to see characters? To go on rides? To watch the parade? Dance parties? Trick or treating?

We didn't do rides or character meet and threats, since my granddaughter fell asleep during the castle show just before Hallowishes. Trick or treat lines were long but moved fast. The character lines we passed didn't look any better or worse than most daytime lines, but we weren't looking for any of the rare characters. fireworks viewing was very crowded but we were right up by the castle. Watched the parade from frontierland and got a spot an hour ahead of time. This was my fourth party and the sheer number of people in tomorrowland after the fireworks surprised me.

We were there tonight and we were thrilled with the crowds. I can't imagine how awesome it is to be on a night that wasn't sold out. My husband, who ALWAYS rolls his eyes at the talk of going on a Disney vacation actually said that he wants to come back next year!

For us, this is the only way that we want to do MK in the future. We walked on to everything. Only some of the treat lines were long and we didn't do many characters. This was our only trip to MK this vacation so we packed in as many rides as possible. I realize that some rides aren't open during the parties but its worth it. We did so much in such a short time.

We have four kids and they pushed through until 11. I was so proud of them.

That's what's s funny about perceptions-- it's all in what you're looking for. We weren't there for the rides; we're at MK almost every day we're here. We're at the party mostly for the parade, fireworks and trick or treat for my granddaughter.

Do you know what "sold out" is? Like around how many tickets constitutes sold out?

As others have said, being a holiday (for some) weekend and with more and more schools having a fall break it brings in higher crowds than past years. Tonight's party is sold out and I would expect it to be pretty busy. One thing I do wonder is if they increase the number of tickets available on Friday and Saturdays?? It always seems that a "sold out" party during the week has people reporting better experiences than those at a "sold out" party on the weekends.

Hope everyone heading to the party tonight has a great time.

No one outside of Disney brass know. Most guesses have the number at about 30K plus or minus 5K.

That's the thing...

There have even been parties that have been announced as "sold out,"
but then Disney will start selling MORE tickets for the announced "sold out" party.

When Disney controls the the number (and publishes neither the number of tickets that is considered a sell-out AND the number of tickets that can be added) it leaves a lot of leeway in the ability to "adjust" the events.

I think most people that pay hard ticket prices for a party go for party stuff instead of rides. I thought posted Ride times last night were very low considering the night was sold out. I started checking at 8:00pm
I think the biggest wait was tinker belle at 75 minutes.
Ariel in the grotto was 15-20 minutes.

(But I also thought that during parties Princesses meet with their guys?

Princess Hall had a 20 minute wait (repunzel was 30)

Going to be there next Friday night (the 18th). Tried to sell my wife on doing the 17th instead due to the AP discount and presumably smaller crowds, but she didn't want to take the eight-year-old out of school an extra day (which of course I understand).

I wonder how the crowds next week will compare to those this week ...

This is so true, as illustrated by the post below:

We have done our fair share of parties two of which have been sold out. We didn't find the sold out ones bad at all and had a great time and got to do plenty. Yes, you could tell it was really busy by comparison but the number of people around gave a false impression of wait times and if going based on assumption due to the number of guests around we may not have attempted as much as we did. I guess there is benefit to the advantage of having been to a party before but a lot has to do with comparison and expectation. I would not avoid a sold out party based on our experience. Yet you read posts by people who really didn't enjoy a party on a night that was not sold out because they felt it was too crowded.

I think party nights can also give an exaggerated feel to crowd levels because a lot of the main draw activities and shows are in concentrated areas so crowds tend to gather rather than disperse more evenly as with a regular park night. Also with walkways being roped off because your two parades and the fireworks are all crammed within a 2 hour period cause you to have to do a bit more backtracking and could prove frustrating for anyone who is not aware that certain paths and points of access are closed off for most of the evening
