MNSSHP refundable?

We will bet at the world from Oct 18-25th. My husband and I are traveling with our two boys ages 5 and 22 months. We are going as a group with extended family. I really want to go to MNNSHP on Thursday the 23rd. My plans were to leave our littlest at the hotel with my husband. He is not as insistent about going to the party. My mother in law just decided she will be coming and said that she might be able to watch the baby that night so that my husband can go. She has not fully committed to it though.
My main question is are the tickets refundable? I am trying to decide whether I should purchase the tickets for all three of us now possibly wasting my husband's ticket if the mother in law can't watch the baby or should I just buy two and hope that they don't sell out before she makes up her mind. What do you think?

That party is pretty unlikely to sell out, and if it does, it wouldn't be until the night of. I'd wait until you all get there to decide what to do.

I believe they say no refunds. We, back in 2000, did get our money back for a Christmas party ticket where one of the people could not attend. Seems times have changed though at WDW. They don't even honor their 'lifetime' mugs now it has been said.

The tickets are not refundable. It states so right on it (I have mine from last time we went). The only exception I have ever heard of is if the weather is so bad that they stop the parade and fireworks.

That close to Halloween, they usually sell out. If you want to guarantee you get tickets, I would buy them now. If you are willing to take the chance and not do the party you can wait. You could just buy the two you know you need now and if it sells out before a final decision is made the options would be:

1) Go to the concierge at your resort and ask. Sometimes there are circumstances where small numbers of tickets can be available day of.

2) Let MIL know her services will not be needed and let your husband stay with the baby. Usually this will get the decision made quickly.:good vibes

Non refundable, but the baby would be free if you wanted to being him for just some of the party. My dd was 2 when she did it and loved it.

I'm sorry, but this is blatantly incorrect information. The dates that sold out last year were:

September 27th--sold out day of
October 9th--sold out October 8th
October 11th--sold out day of
October 14th--sold out day of
October 17th--sold out October 15th
October 29th--sold out October 28th
October 31st--sold out October 4th
November 1st--sold out October 31st

It should be noted that Columbus Day was extremely crowded last year and that accounts for the sellouts on the 9th, 11th, and 14th. Additionally, local Orlando schools were out for fall break on the 17th and 18th last year, and the 17th being a discounted night (no discount for the party on the 18th), which is likely why it sold out. For the OP's travel dates, no sellouts are likely.

There is absolutely no reason to buy any MNSSHP this far in advance due to fear of selling out. The only party that sells out significantly in advance is the one that actually falls on Halloween.

Which is a fact that was blatantly incorrect. Last year, no dates that fall within the OP's trip dates sold out, even though they were arguably "close" to Halloween. You were wrong on that, and I would hate to see the OP spend a lot of money for non-refundable tickets based on the misinformation that you provided.

Had you made your statement in the form of an opinion, such as, "Some parties do sell out, so if you want to guarantee you get tickets, I would buy them now." I wouldn't have had a problem with it. But you stated something as fact that was just wrong, which is what I wanted to point out to the OP. Take offense to it if you want, but you can't argue that the information you gave (i.e., that parties that fall within the OP's trip dates tend to sell out) wasn't right.

Not to throw out any blatantly incorrect information , but, FWIW, we were at WDW from 10/27 to 11/4 several years ago, and every MNSSHP sold out that week. There were signboards up at the front gate stating so on each party date. We bought our tickets for the 11/2 party several months early.

Tickets are non-refundable, unfortunately.

Sorry OP if you feel I misled you. Parties do sell out and just because one did not last year does not mean it won't this year. I hope everything works out and you get a chance to enjoy the party.

Thanks so much for the great info. I really appreciate it. I will wait until we get a little closer, hopefully MIL will make up her mind soon. Sorry to start a feud. I understand that the information on here is not always 100% true. That is why I like to get multiple people responding.

FWIW....parties that close to Halloween probably will sell out, but usually they sell out that day or right before (except for actual Halloween). Lots of locals go to the parties and buy their tickets when they get there.

I have gone to 5 MNSHHP and always bought our tickets when we got to WDW. That way we had a little bit better idea if there might be weather issues. We never had problems getting tickets even on nights that eventually sold out.

We also did get a weather related refund in 2012. It started storming around 6pm and didn't let up most of the night. Water was ankle deep and the lightning was insane. It was really really scary. They had to shut down most of the park for about an hour too and didn't run the first parade. We decided it was unsafe especially with a 3 mo old so we sent my mom and the kids back to the room and waited in an insane line and did get our money back. They did run an abbreviate second parade and the fireworks did go off (we were staying at BLT and watched them from the Top of the World Lounge). Friends who stuck it out said they did have fun once the rides were running again but they never opened the candy bins either. They actually got their money back the next day when they mentioned it to their hotel conceirge. It was a pretty bad night

Ironically we bought our tickets earlier in the week and they were calling for storms Tuesday so we bought for the Thursday party. Well Tuesday ended up being beautiful

I think you're confused on what is a fact vs what is an opinion (which I was trying to highlight to you, to no avail), but OP got his/her answer, so I'm happy.


OP, the Halloween parties have been a highlight of our past trips so I really hope you guys have fun. We have found that if you go to a night that doesn't offer any discounts the crowds are lighter. The discounted nights really seem to bring more people out. We did a discounted Sunday party and a non-discounted Friday party last year, and the Friday crowd seemed much lighter (and even though that second party was less than a week from Halloween ).
