MNSSHP questions

I just don't get this. I am planning a trip for a friend. She will be there during one of the MNSSHP nights. How exactly does this work?
1. Do you pay extra over & above your park hopper pass? (I see the cost but I don't understand if this is in addition to a pass)
2. What time does it start? Do they close the park early for everyone else? How do they know who is there for MNSSHP vs a regular parkgoer?
3. Would you recommend it for someone who's kids (dd's ages 5, 4 & 2) go to bed by 8pm & my friend wants to keep them on their regular schedule (yeah right, we've all said that - falls apart the 1st night when they stay up later then we adults do!!)?

It takes a special ticket, but you do not need to use the park hopper pass

It officially starts at 7:00, and you can officially get in at 6:00, but unofficially you can get in using only the MNSSHP tickets as early as 4:00. The park closes at 6:00 for everyone else. Party goers are given a wrist band, and are asked to go to Tomorrowland between 6:00-7:00.

The party is held after Magic Kingdom closes so you would only need the party ticket to get in.

The park closes from 6:00p to 7:00p to prepare for the party.

The party goes from 7:00p to Midnight.

They started letting party goers enter for the party as early as 4:00p after 9/11 and with the addition of security checks delays.

If you do not have a party ticket, they will ask you to leave by 6:00p. If you are going to the party you will get a wristband and a trick or treat bag.

From 6:00p to 7:00p if you are in the park and attending the party, you can either eat in a restaurant or you'd have to wait in Tomorrowland, which is the only land open for that hour.

If she wants to get her kids to bed by 8:00p each night then maybe it won't be worth it for her to attend the party.
