MNSSHP-Questions

Hi Fellow Halloweeners...

On Oct. 24th we will be going to WDW, and will be doing the MNSSHP for the first time. On the one hand I am VERY excited. I love Halloween and dress up every year with my children ( and even before I had children ).

1. Oct. 24th is the Friday before Halloween. Should I buy my tickets ahead of time or when I get there?

We will not be going to the parks earlier that day, but I do plan around the 4pm opening. I have an ADR at the Grand Floridian Cafe for an early dinner, so we can focus on the party and not have to stop to eat.

I guess one of my questions is about costumes. My DH is going as Capt. Jack Sparrow and my twin boys are going at Disney pirates. I decided I did not want to be a pirate wench, so I have created a costume of the Ghost Bride from the Haunted Mansion. Initially, I was very excited about my costume, but now I think I am chickening-out.

2. Am I going to look too ridiculous walking around in a ghost costume (including face paint) at 4 o'clock in the afternoon? Too ridiculous to eat dinner at the GFCafe?

3. Is my costume too creepy for Disney? Should I have selected something more tame, like Pirate wench? Will there be alot of people walking around in costume?

4. I know there are 2 parades, how can I find out the time of the parades and the fireworks? You would think with all of the times that I have been to WDW, I would know this answer....but I have to admit I'm not sure.

5. Does Disney give you treat bags to collect the candy, or should you bring something?

These are all of the questions I can think of now. Please feel free to provide me with any other kinds of info. or tips for the MNSSHP.

I wouldn't wait till that day. It could sell out. Depends on how sure you are going.

No, you won't. You'll see lots of people after 4:00p in their costumes.

I don't think it is too creepy. Yes, there will be lots in costumes and of course, some without a costume or some with just a Halloween t-shirt.

You can look here on the DIS under "Event" and then under "October". The parades are 8:15p and 10:30p and the fireworks are at 9:30p.

5. Does Disney give you treat bags to collect the candy, or should you bring something?

Yes, after you walk through the turnstyle, they will put a wristband on you and hand you a plastic treat bag. You can always bring your own as well if you prefer.

1. We were there last year at the same time, the Thursday night party was not sold out, but the Friday one was. (We went to both parties) LOTS of locals come in for that night, I would most certainly buy it now if I was you. I would NOT wait!!!

2&3. there will be people dressed up at 4pm. don't worry, just go and have fun. Last year there was a Jack Skellington (sp?) that was all dressed up with the face paint. This year we will be dressed up as the Haunted mansion Dancers, and I will be a bride as well... WITH face paint. I might have it "toned" down initially, and then maybe add to the face paint as the night goes.


5. As far as the treat bags go, yes, they give you a plastic bag. However I read a great tip on here last year to bring another bag to put the candy in, in case you go on rides, it would keep the candy contained, and also if your bag fills up, you can empty the plastic candy bag and keep trick-or-treating for more candy. We will have a ziploc bag along to keep the candy contained.

It's FUN to do this and this close to Halloween a LOT more people will be dressed up too. I went to the first one September 5th....even then quite a few people were decked out in their costumes!

3. Is my costume too creepy for Disney? Should I have selected something more tame, like Pirate wench? Will there be alot of people walking around in costume? Do whatever you want....just make sure you're comfortable. Trust me...a ghost is not the creepiest thing you will see.

5. Does Disney give you treat bags to collect the candy, or should you bring something? Yes but they're flimsy. You might want to bring your own or get one of the cool buckets they sell at the MK!

I have a ton of pictures along with times info etc in my trip report....go take a look. It shows the Villains Mix and Mingle...the parade....the characters...etc.

We went to the Tues 10-7 party and saw many, many more people dressed up than in previous years. You will not be out of place at 4:00 in a costume. We even saw families at Epcot in costume during the day on Thursday.
