Don't know where to post this question - hope you all can help.
We've never been during this time - I know my 4 yr old would love it and would love to dress up but my question is DO THE ADULTS WHO ATTEND, have to dress up? Is it a requirement to attend? Are you looked at funny or treated differently for not dressing up?
Thanks for your help! You guys are the best.

I've never been to Disney either for the MNSSHP. I'll be going this year with my twin sister for the first time and we are both adults. We're not bringing any children, we're going for a few days for some bonding time and we will be dressing up as Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. I would say ofcourse you don't HAVE to dress up, but do you want to? It'll be fun for all ages, I have a feeling. I can't wait to dress up, I don't think I'll ever get too old for this stuff, especially at Disney. I hardly think people will look at you funny either way, whether or not you dress up. And even if they do, who cares? Do what you feel comfortable doing. If anyone's gonna get looked at funny, it'll be my sister and I. Two 25 year old women going to Disney by ourselves without kids or our husbands and boyfriends dressing up as Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum! Can't wait, I'm really looking foward to it...BTW, your son will have a wonderful, magical time. What is he dressing up as?

Hi,

We attended the MNSSHP in October 2004, Most of the adults did not dress up due to the weather and other concerns. It is not easy to be an adult in a costume and navigate the costume, kids, and the candy AND the lines. In fact, my two year old was also not in costume because even in October, it was still rather warm. We also had to bear in mind that there was still a lot of walking to be done and so wearing good shoes was still important. I saw a lot of princesses whose feet were hurting because of their glass slippers.

I think my DD is going to dress up like Sleeping Beauty. Of course, she doesn't know any of this yet. I ordered the costume yesterday from Disney when it was on sale and just bought the tickets to the event today.

I think you and your sister will have an excellent time.

Thanks so much for everyones advice and replies.

Aw! How precious! I'm sorry, I don't know why I thought you said you had a son. Well, your daughter will look beautiful as Sleeping Beauty!
Have fun!

(I know I should probably post this somewhere else, but if anyone can help me, I was just wondering how you get all your Disney trips listed under your messages like that. Do you have to rewrite it everytime you post a message or can you default it somehow so it comes up everytime you post?If it's too complicated to explain, don't worry about it, I can figure it out.)

We've attended MNSSHP on two separate occassions and dressed up both times. It's not necessary to dress in costumes that will inhibit you. My husband wore doctors' scrubs and had a stethoscope around his neck. My son wore a karate suit and funny teeth (aka Jerry Lewis) He had people roaring, he looked so funny. Neither costume caused them discomfort or interfered with going on rides. Here's a tip....we went to a couple of local thrift shops to find costumes....inexpensive and we threw them away afterwards so it wasn't necessary to pack them to return home. Have a great time!! Wish we were going again this year.

I usually do a "creative casual" costume. One year I wore black t shirt & capris with a witches hat, another was a red Pooh shirt with mustard yellow pants, and pooh headband ears. This year, I ordered a Minnie costume from Disney that I look hideous in. I will be returning the costume, and wear a red/white polka dot sundress with the Minnie ears & gloves. I ordered an Evil Queen costume from Disney, but I think it will be too warm since it is velvet and has a cape.... We'll see. DH doesn't dress up, but he does buy the MNSSHP shirt for the party we are attending and puts it on right away.

We attended MNSSHP in 2002 - no adults in our group dressed up but all the kids did. We did see many adults dressed up from just silly wigs to full costumes. :wizard:

It's up to you - however you feel comfortable - but remember that everyone gets a trick-or-treat bag! :cheer2:

We went in October 2004. DS4 and DS6 (at the time) dressed up in camoflauge-easy to navigate the rides, not too hot. DH and I wore halloween t-shirts I got at Target. There weren't very many adults dressed up, but the one family that wins my vote was the entire family-DH, DW, DS, DD dressed up like the Incredibles. They looked great, although I bet they were hot. To me it would be all about ease and comfort.

Don't forget, there is a family picture involved, so that may influence your costume decision... :)

Grown ups get to do everything the kids do, INCLUDING gathering all the candy you can carry. It was so much fun, I am trying to think of a way to justify a trip down just to go to MNSSHP, in between the weekend next week to the Nick Hotel, and a long weekend in December to see the Christmas decorations.

Have a great time!!

Adults get trick or treat bags too! WooHoo! I have quite the sweet-tooth,so this makes me very happy....About that free photo, how does that work? Where do you have to go to get it?

This will be our 5th year attending MNSSHP. Yes, many adults dress up. There will be adults dressed up who don't have children with them.

Just an example of what we have seen families do (and there are many more of them)....the family were all dressed up as Dalmations. The kids and Dad just took light weight, white sweat suits, dressed them up with black spots, did ears and a tail....and the Mom was Cruella. :rotfl: Very Cute!!

By the way, we personally have never dressed up, only our kids.

Thanks everyone for all the replies and information.
I really like the dalmation idea - HOW CUTE!

Adults get candy too? :Pinkbounc
You have made my day!!! I have been doing Atkins diet until our trip (19 days away) but plan on going totally off the diet while on the cruise and at Disney. I will probably gain 20 lbs in those 13days but who cares!
Adult trick or treating, can't wait!!

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I've been on a counting carbs type diet too. I'm also planning on giving it up for the trip! I figure I can start again when I get back!!! :rotfl:

I dress up as a tourist, LOL.

Actually, I do usually take the party as an excuse to wear a funny hat or tiara or something, just for fun. There are plenty of kids and adults who don't dress up.
