MNSSHP or Star Wars Weekend?

DW and I are going on a Wedding Ann. cruise without the kids in 2008. So we thought of using some unused Disney tickets for a weekend trip to WDW. The big question is when? MNSSHP looks fun and we liked MVMCP, but we're not big halloween fans (plus it is a hard ticket event). DD (6) and I are big Star Wars fans so Star Wars Weekend looks fun and we wouldn't need to buy an extra ticket. Has anyone gone to Star Wars weekend? Is it worth a trip? :confused3

Having done both this year, I would say that Star Wars Weekend is worth it, but be prepared for large crowds in that area of MGM. We went the weekend of May 19 and we had a great time! My favorite part was seeing (and hearing) the stormtroopers on top of the MGM entry way! There was a little boy in back of us on line dressed as Darth Vader and one stormtrooper saluted him - it was priceless!

I don't want to contradict Tosie but when we went in 2005 my family & I, HUGE Star Wars fans, were very disappointed. Its very possible that MGM has made improvements this year compared to 2005 so I will leave open the possibility that its better now, but I won't go for Star Wars again. I agree with the previous poster that seeing the StormTroopers on top of the buildings was a huge thrill but that was about it. We were disappointed to learn that only a handful of the kids there would get to be trained to be Jedi which made MANY MANY kids sad, which made the parents sad too. Unfortunately it rained for the days performance we were there so we saw nothing. As a gesture, the characters stood out in the rain under a tarp so we could get signatures but Darth Vader wasn't there. DH had to ,recently, print a copy off the PC and send it 'autographed' from Darth Vader because the kids were so disappointed and still talking about it. Overall the park was not as transformed as I would have liked it to have been. Most of the park was unchanged so not worth the crowds or peak season prices we paid. I often point out my Star Wars Weekends mug as my $5,000 mug, :lmao:

To each their own but I thought I should offer another side. Like I said, the previous poster went this year so it might have been drastically improved.

Whatever you choose have a Magical trip :sunny:

Went to Stars Wars Weekend in 2004 and MNSSHP in 2005.

Love both Star Wars and Halloween and would easily choose MNSSHP BUT I also think that part of the fun with MNSSHP is the whole family dressing up.

I like the parade and firwarks at MNSSHP. Star Wars weekend was OK and would go again but it is not that unique. Maybe it really took off this year??

We've done both. If I planned a trip, I would choose to plan it for the MNSSHP. I love Star Wars and my son is a huge fan. We were thrilled with the Storm Troopers standing on the roof of the entrance and entertaining the crowd. We really loved the Jedi training. It was great fun watching the kids get trained. We also enjoyed seeing the extra Star Wars characters. These things were great, but that was all there was to it for us. I don't think I would plan a trip to be there just for that. I would definitely plan a trip just for MNSSHP. I've been to MK bunches over my life. The MNSSHP was such a different MK experience. I loved how the park was transformed with lighting and props to give it a Halloween feel. The parade is one of the best parades I've ever seen. We loved the headless horseman. It was amazing seeing that black horse barrelling down the street with the headless rider. There was also a group of dancing grave diggers that scraped their shovels on the ground and sparks would fly, it was great. We also really enjoyed being in the park with less folks and riding the rides at night. Of course watching all the kids in costumes and the families that chose to dress in a theme was fun too. As you can tell, I would do MNSSHP any day.
