I'm sort of considering MNSSHP in October - park hours are generally short, so it's a good way to make a later night, but not sure my kids will be able to party into the night and be worth it. I can't find the exact hours on a Disney's site, but I gather from DISboards that you are admitted beginning at 4? When does it end? If I have base tix (no hopper) can I do a different day park and use only thus hard ticket for MK in the evening?

Other question - I want to sign my kids up for Jedi training academy & curious if anyone has tried and NOT gotten in. I'm going to try for RD that day, but want to know what my chances are if I'm a liiiiittle later.;)

Yes, you can enter another park for the day and get into the MK for the party starting at 4. Party ended at midnight for us last Oct 14th.

Used RD strategy for JTA, so don't know.

You do not need a regular park ticket to enter the park at 4pm for the Halloween Party. You just need the party ticket so you can use a regular ticket to go to any other park you want. You can also use a regular ticket to get into the Magic Kingdom before 4pm but you must have a party ticket to stay past 7pm which is what time the party activities begin. The Party itself runs from 7 to midnight with fireworks at 9pm and a parade at 8 and 10 pm.

We usually do a party every year. We use this day to sleep in and relax at the resort. Then we go to the Magic Kingdom for an early dinner around 5pm and hang until the very end. When my Gracie was 3 she made it to the first parade and then slept in the stroller for the rest of the party.

As far as Jedi Training--if you do not get there at rope drop you could be out of luck or worse you could be put on a stand by list which means you have to check at each show to see if some one dropped out. We were at rope drop and did not make it in the show. And we go at a slow time of year.

If you are planning to do a park in the AM, I don't think your kiddos will last too late into the hard ticket event... just from what I've read on the boards and heard from friends - it makes for a really long day.

I would recommend taking the party morning off as a time to sleep in and maybe eat at a resort or DtD. Then relax by the pool, maybe grab a nap before heading to the fun.

We did late night EMH at MK with DD who was 4 at the time and she hung in from 8 until 2am no problem. That said, we did an early morning, went to the hotel around lunch and swam/napped until dinner so she was ready to go. Had we done a full park day, I don't think she would've made it past 10. YMMV but we plan on doing a quiet morning before the Halloween Party this fall!

We have done WDW at the exact time of year. Unless it's changed, HS doesn't have a hard rope-drop time, so you actually should be at the park a little bit earlier (15-30 minutes before the official time). JTA will fill up quickly. There was a family behind us that tried earlier that week and got to the park about 10 minutes after the official opening time and did not get a JTA slot.

MNSSHP is a lot of fun, but I wouldn't plan to be anywhere at RD the next morning. I think it's a waste of the ticket cost if you leave the party early. We just hung around the hotel that morning, went to MK at 4 pm and stayed almost to the party end. The next day I think we got to Epcot an hour after opening.

Very important considerations, as probably our best available day for MNSSHP is the night before I need to be at RD for Jedi training! Thanks for the DHS rope drop info - I have never been at RD at any park (occasionally arrive probably right after the RD crowd is already through) so I'm not really sure how they work at each park and whether really "doing RD" means getting there right at posted opening time, or 90 minutes early or somewhere in between. :confused3

For JTA sign-ups, rope drop means to get there at least 45 minutes prior to the scheduled park opening so that you can be closer to the front of the line at the tapstiles.

If you are an off-site guest, don't attempt JTA on an EMH morning as most slots get filled in that first hour of EMH.
