MNSSHP for 2 Adults?

Hi!

I have been going back and forth in my head about doing MNSSHP- there's still one more date open in August during our trip and I'm tempted, but it's expensive and IDK if it's worth it since we've never done it. Here's the deal- two adults, not planning on trick or treating, not necessarily planning on meeting any characters, would be interested to see the show and parade- is it worth the hype, should we pull the trigger or just skip it?

My sister and I (30's/40's) have done it several times.
We enjoy dressing up, tick or treating, party exclusive food, the shorter lines, and the overall atmosphere.
We do not care for meet and greets, parade, and shows.

That said the cost has skyrocketed and we will no longer pay the money to go because to us its not worth it anymore.

If you don't mind the price tag it is a fun thing to experience at least once.

I enjoy it. We usually get the special Halloween snacks and ride a couple of rides along with watching the parade and show. My husband doesn't think it's worth it but I love it. My profile pic is at last year's Halloween party.

If you are Halloween type people then, yes definitely! It can be super-fun jsut for the atmosphere. Adults can still get some candy too - they don't mind. I usually hit a couple of treat trails later when they aren't as busy. The Parade is a really good one - plus the Headless Horseman rides before it! The Hocus Pocus stage show is good too, plus the special fireworks. It's kind of up to you if that's worth the price, but it is definitely a lot of fun.

I love going, especially for the parade, which is my favorite. The stage show is terrific, too. The benefit of riding Space Mountain with every light off makes it more worth it. Overall, you're paying for an opportunity to see a parade and show you would never see otherwise, as well as some characters you never see. The lessened wait times are nice, but it's nothing you couldn't accomplish on a traditional day. You can get HEEPS of candy, so that's a bonus. It's a hard call either way, but as a Disney fan I do think it's a great thing to do at least once.

I think I would break it down like this:

If you still dress up for Halloween - Go!
If you leave your porch light off on Oct. 31 - Don't Go!
If you run to Lowes in late July to see all the new yard decorations - Go!
If you give out pennies or dental floss - Don't Go!
If you are a big Nightmare Before Christmas fan - Go!
If you think you are "too cool" for Halloween - Don't Go!
If you leave macabre/spooky decorations out year-round - Go!
If you think only kids eat candy - Don't Go!
If The Haunted Mansion is your favorite Disney ride - Go!

Anyone who is a Halloween type person will likely have a great time. 🙂

In response to the “go if you’re a Halloween person” suggestions… I was a huge Halloween fan as a kid (bc of the candy 😍)… but as an adult, not so much. Pumpkins, yes; Halloween, no.

I am a Christmas person. I love MVMCP!!! I’ve gone several times & the parade is one of my favorite parts (my family makes fun of me for how much I love the toy soldiers 😆). But as a person who goes to WDW several times a year, I finally decided to go to MNSSHP 2 years ago with my sister & our 4 teenage boys. We went for the candy & low ride wait-times (plus the total blackout on Space Mountain)… but my sister & I love parades, so we had to watch it! We went into it thinking it couldn’t possibly be in the same category as the MVMCP parade is to us. Not a chance… bc we’re both Christmas girls!! But we were wrong… and hesitant to even admit it to each other 😅 but we loved the energy of the night, the parade, the fireworks, the Disney-level spookiness… all of it! But our favorite was the parade… and for both of us, it was the better party parade 🫣 (& the gravediggers stole the show!!)

Everyone’s “worth it value” is personal & subjective. I would go the parties every year if they cost less… but I will still go back occasionally. In fact, I’m going to MNSSHP this year with my 2 young-adult girls (they’re not into candy- they want to see the parade & focus on special villain appearances). We’re all very excited!! 🤩🎉

I’m going solo this year to both MNSSHP and MVMCP. I do it instead of a day ticket to MK, and I do ride my favorite rides (since you can enter at 4:00). I also trick or treat a bit and watch the parade and fireworks. Have seen the stage show before and can skip it. Back before Covid when I had an AP I lined up for Jack & Sally meet, and the Pooh gang in their costumes, but I don’t bother with meets any more. I enjoy the late night atmosphere in the parks, and seeing the costumes (I just wear a themed T-shirt)

I've got news for you - you might be a "Halloween Person" after all. 😄

Do it! We've gone several times the past 3 years & love it! Last September me & a friend flew down for a long weekend to attend. DH & I are going back this year. You won't regret it!

People ask why do my husband & I go to Disney so much without kids. My answer: “Why go with kids?”

Just kidding. Seriously, my husband & I go to MNSSHP every year and have a great time. I’m sure that you guys will too!

Our son and DIL go most every year (we all missed 2023) and love dressing up and enjoy the party atmosphere.

DH and I have done it and it is past our bedtime LOL though it is fun to watch the live performances like the Headless Horseman.

I'd go for it and just live in the moment! party:

Fill me in on the whole MK thing. So you can enter the park with your ticket/wrist band at 4 p.m. ? Thinking of going, but not so much the treats, but big time yes for rides and shows. My daughter, adult, 40, loves Halloween. We go to Salem, Ma every other year or so. How about crowd capacity? Is there only a certain amount sold to make it worth it in that way? Is there a list of rides that will be closed during the party? I am so out of the loop with Disney as I have mentioned, it's been since 2015 since I've been. Never did the Halloween party, just the Christmas one. I chatted online on the DisneyWorld site, and was told that if I cannot make the party, (cancelling the trip for example) I can use the tickets for a future event? Does that sound correct? Thoughts? Thank you all!

Yes, the tickets are limited. Some parties are already sold out. Most rides are open (see list in linked thread). Lines can be short, especially during parades and fireworks. The first party was just Friday night, so there is lots of info from people who went. Thrill data tracked wait times for the rides (scroll down a bit)- https://www.thrill-data.com/mnsshp/2024

Thank you so much for your information! Went ahead and just booked for October 4th! Very excited!

I think it depends on what you value as a fan of Disney parks. Personally, we love the MNSSHP entertainment: Boo to You, Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular, and the fireworks. We are't huge on characters either (maybe hop in line for 1-2) and do very little trick-or-treating. I think the vibes are fantastic, and always love the shorter ride waits. I always think MNSSHP is worth a try - worst case you probably still have a good time, but find it's not worth the consistent price :)

Is the MK train running during the MNSSHP? I have always enjoyed taking the time to ride it.

It closes pretty early IME, you can get in at 4:00 on your party ticket, I would not expect the train to run past 6:00, maybe not past 5. Try to ride it early!
