We're planning on going to the 10/1 Halloween party, but would probably be interested in eating at a counter service restaurant before the party starts (around 5:30pm?). Can we do that before the party, similar to what others are planning for their priority seating meals? I'm thinking about either Cosmic Rays or Columbia Harbour House. I saw CR on the list of open restaurants, but not CHH.

If CHH is not open for the party, what time would they close? Same with the Dole whips stand--if it's not open for the party what time would it close (the party might be our only time at the MK and dole whips are on my "must have" list).

Thanks, T&B

my best guess would be park closing time ? anyone else ? thanks Michelle

Last year we got hot dogs at Casey's right before the first parade and were able to get seats at the little tables they have on the Main Street side and watched the parade from them. I'm not sure what else was open as far as counter service goes.

My guess would also be that anything not open for the party would close at the normal closing time, which is 6pm.

Maybe we'll plan to eat dinner either before going into the park (or a late lunch) or right before the park closes for regular guests. That is unless we decide to go somewhere that is open for sure between 6 and 7pm.

I don't know if the Harbor House is open, but last year Pecos Bill and Cosmic Ray's were open during the party. Aloha Isle (the Dole whip stand) was NOT! ( I learned that the hard way). I agree that those places not open during the party will probably close at normal time, but please note that normal time these days does not always mean park closing. I found last September that even though the park was closing at 7, many eateries closed at 6. I would just recommend checking the times guide that day. You will definitely be able to find something to eat, but your favorite places might not be open.

Good point! I know that the Dole Whips place isn't open when the park first opens. Is there any way to find out for sure what the hours of it would be before actually getting to the park that day? We weren't going to be there until close to party time, but will make a point of getting there early enough for a Dole Whip!

Maybe you could post here about a week before your trip to see if anyone there or just back can report what their experience was with park closing time vs. counter service closing time. If you weren't going to the first MNSSHP you could ask someone who had already gone, but that won't work for those going on 10/1. :)

That's worth a try! I could probably try some official WDW ph #, but who knows of they would have that information. It could also be subject to change depending on how busy the Dole Whip stand is that particular day.
