MNSSHP Costumes!

We went one year and my 15 year old son was dressed as Dorthy. No one said anything. Although he got a lot of double takes.

We saw you guys!!! We were on the bus with you back to AKL after the party.

We dressed as lands from the Magic Kingdom. I was a scarecrow from Mickey's Toontown Fair, DS was an engineer from Main St USA and DH was a mad scientist from tomorrowland. We had a whole group including a Frontierland Cowgirl, A Pixie Hollow fairy, Adventureland Hula girl and a ghost from Liberty Square.

Because we were a big group we also thought about doing the countries from epcot.

Cool! :cool1: I remember your scarecrow outfit because I have a scarecrow costume, too, but I used real hay on it and I thought how smart you were to use raffia! :goodvibes

I had no idea you could wear costumes to the parties! We were thinking about going, but now we're definitely going!

Now I've gotta make hotel ressies, get ADR's, come up with costumes...

A Disneyholics work is never done. ;)

I found this dress for DD3 the other day! I can not wait to see her in it! Crazy, but true - Nightmare Before Christmas is her favorite movie!

Me too, love the dress! Where did you find it???

Here is a picture from last year. It was a warm day, but we weren't too hot. The only uncomfortable part of the costumes was when it started to downpour and we got soaked. The nice part about have a long dress is that we were still able to wear our tennis shoes underneath. No glass slipper for us. When we dried out we were fine. The party was great and I can't wait for this upcoming year.

we are going to mnsshp on october 29th and are trying to come up with a ostume idea. there will be four of us, 3 girls and 1 guy... any ideas???? we want to stay with a disney theme. last year we were wendy, peter pan, tinkerbell and a pirate, so any thing along the lines of pirates is out... any sugestions????

I was actually going to suggest Hercules and the Muses (then I saw a later post lol) but it would be kinda cool... Or... the three blond sisters from Beauty and the Beast and Gaston.

Have a fun trip!;)

shouldn't be too authentic to confuse other guests into thinking you are a CM (i.e. no autographs from you {although what a compliment to you costume if others thought you were that character :goodvibes}).

last year we dressed as dead pirates and you wouldn't believe how many people thought we were CMs. It was tooo funny. One gentleman thanked4 us 'for all our hard work'.

It was soooo bloody hot....the makeup ran down our faces, too.

This year I want the four of us to go as characters from Burton's Alice. W'e'll see how THAT goes over with my BIL who is 6'4" and 250 and a good ol boy with NO ability to see the fun in a costume at Disney.

We went as non-Disney characters a few years ago - Velma and Daphne from Scooby Doo... might be a good idea for your family... super easy costumes to make...we got all our clothes from the Old Navy clearance section!

If I can figure out how to post a picture, I will...

October dates are out...I would guess that any day the Magic Kingdom closes at 7pm would be a MNSSHP date.
We have a group of 17 that's thinking about a Grease theme - Pink Ladies and T-Birds. It can get pretty hot, though. Average temps in the mid to high 80s.

Subscribing to this thread for all the great ideas! DS & I will be going for the 1st time in Oct.

Where did you see Oct. park hours? I haven't seen them anywhere.

DS is going as Phineas. I found the perfect shirt and pants. Bonus is, they are lightweight clothing (cotton blend) vs. being plastic. I'm trying to find a green bathing suit for DD to be Tink... I'll just make her a tutu to wear with it!

Yesterday, DS was begging me to find a Ferb costume for DH. Boy if I can find purple shorts! It will be perfect!

You should go as Candace then! Red shirt, white shorts and shoes you'd be set to go.

I'm actually considering dressing up as Candace this year. I'm thinking it would be nice and cool. Two years ago I went as Belle in her blue dress.

It was a big hit. I got some of the best interaction from the cast members at the party. When I was passing by Cinderella's stepsisters they were taunting me calling me that "weird reading girl". It was alot of fun.

I could wear the same thing, but I really want to come up with something new this year. If I stick to my diet I was thinking of Kim Possible as well.

We are dealing with this right now as well! I want to do a "theme" (though I am not sure what yet!), but my DD9 is determined to go as a banana. We'll figure it out eventually...

kind of old fashioned but you could go as the kitchen cabaret!!!!!(of veggie veggie fruit fruit whatever you call it)

We will be going the week before Halloween one of the nights. At the moment my idea for the group of us is to be pirates, no very original but fun. I love to make home made costumes. It will be me, my husband, DS2 and DD4.5. Then if I can get the rest of our group to go too that would get crazy, my two sister in laws with their families and my mother and father in law are all going to WDW. Not sure if they are coming to MNSSHP.
