Dh and DS's (4, 2.5, and 6mo.) and I are going to MNSSHP this year on Sept. 29th. I am FRANTICALLY Trying to figure out what we all are going to wear as costumes but I'm worried about the kids, especially the baby, being too hot in some of the costumes I'm finding online. :furious: Can anyone tell me what it is like 'usually' this time of year at night in Fl? We live in IL so it is either frigid or humid and sometimes all in the same day!
I just am not sure if some of the long sleeved costumes would be a good idea for the kids... :confused3
Thanks in advance! :thumbsup2

We went last year last week of Sept and are going again this year. Last year the only costumes my DD2 would wear were the short sleeved ones. I took two that were long shear sleeves but it was to humid. Don't get me wrong it was hot also but we are from Oklahoma so the heat didn't really bother her but it was even more humid than we are used to and even the short costumes were sticking to her by the time we got back to the hotel at night.

It will be pretty hot and humid. I would go with something simple that will be breathable. Last year I saw a few kiddos in costumes that were way too heavy for the FL weather. While waiting for the parade I saw 2 families who ended up having to buy clothes for thier kids because they were getting over heated in the costumes they had on.

Here are a few good weather sites:

National Weather Service
Weather Underground

We are also going for the first time the same night you are. I would love to dress up, but then I think of the expense of a costume and how uncomfortable I would probably be. I ordered DH and me a custom t-shirt from Disney shopping. That way we will have something special to wear. Now, the question of costumes for DD(3) and Ds(19 months). I refuse to have them in something scratchy or hot which eliminates most costumes. I want them to be comfy and have a great time. Right now I am contemplating a straw hat and denim overalls with an unused paint brush for DS. He can be a miniature Tom Sawyer. My DD has long red hair and would make a great Ariel, but those costumes are $$$ and look uncomfortable, so I am thinking of sticking with the literary theme and doing her up as Pippi Longstocking. What does everyone think about those ideas?

When we went it was Columbus Day weekend and it was HOT! Our kids wore simple costumes, we saw plenty of others sweating in FUR! Dh and I just wore Halloween T's! (We lived in Chicagoland at the time!)

We went a few years ago and the whole family dressed in fifties attire. The "girls" wore poodle skirts, bobby socks and a scarf in our hair. We also brought along a white sweater in case it got chilly. The "guys" wore cuffed jeans and a white t- shirt. They had leather jackets/jean jackets in case it got chilly. These outfits packed really well and left us some flexibility with the weather. As we have been to several "sock hops" since, we have used them a few more times as well.

We are also from IL and know that most costumes here are pretty warm. We found the early part of the evening to be warm, but it did get a little chilly (Not by Chicago standards) at night. Choose a costume that allows for both scenerios.

Good luck and have a great time!

We went last year that same week to MNSSHP and what I did was put DD in an OU cheerleading outfit, bought the face tattoos and put one of those on her cheek, and ribbons in her hair. Then for me and DH I made us T-shirts that had her picture on the front and on the back I put "Sammi's Mom" and "Sammi's Daddy" respectively. She was adorable and they were cool.
