So DH and I have decided to do our first ever MNSSHP this year - and he wants to go in costume! I think it sounds like a fun idea, but I am having a hard time coming up with ideas for couples. He is thinking along the lines of Jack Sparrow/etc... but I am concerned that costume will get super hot and I will end up with a cranky DH. Any adults out there who have gone in costume have any feedback to give??

We wore halloween themed tshirts or go as Mouseketeers. We go in Sept alot and it is simply way too hot and humid for us for full costumes

We are also an adult couple - we are wearing Jack Skellington T-Shirts...I already know for sure I would end up with a cranky DH in the heat if there was anymore than a T-shirt on! I really want to dress up but I definitely do not want to deal with a Grumps-McNasty!!

Same here!
Adults only..We WANT to dress up...we have decided to wait until we are in florida.

IF the weather is not too humid, we will do costumes...otherwise, just a halloween t-shirt.

When is everyone going?
Looks like we will end up goingeither on thursday 10/20 or friday 10/21

Back in 2006 we went to MNSSHP on October 31st. We had picked out matching Wizard costumes at the kids request before we went. We wore them the entire time at the party walking around the park. If I remember correctly many families were in costume so it was not strange for adults to dress up too. It was not too hot for the long robes and wizard hats since the sun had gone down already.

September may be a different story. We also did the Pirates and Princess party in June once and all dressed as pirates. We just made sure the costumes were not difficult enough to get on and off rides.

we have been four times and have always been pirates. Arr! I just bought some nice costumes from a store at home. The good thing is the material is thin and packs so easily. It's not that hot either, but both shirts have long sleeves. I wore a wig once, big mistake.. those are hot! I use the mickey pirate hat i got on the disney cruise. DH hat is a bandana with the Jack Sparrow braids. We always get compliments.

see picture in signature!

btw if it rains, and you have your ponchos on.. that can get a bit hot, but atleast you'll be dry.

DF and I will be attending our first ever MNSSHP this year! We discussed costumes, and are thinking of going as Alice and the Mad Hatter. We will be there for the end of October so I hope the heat won't be too much of an issue then! :woohoo:

I'm trying to convince DH and the IL"s to go as original Mickey Mouse clubhouse members, with our names on our shirts and our ears, just like Annette and Frankie. They arent biting though...

Depends on when you go and how dedicated he is XD You should mention to him it may be warm and see if he's up for dealing with that to look awesome.

I went at the beginning of September as Edna (which is like wear a quilt), but I willed myself to just deal with it and duck in and out of air conditioned areas/rides ^_^

The end of September + October parties are a bit easier to do thicker costumes.

Truthfully, if he did this costume, it wouldn't be all that warm anyways.

We have done MNSSHP twice. A few years ago we went as Woody and Jessie. We are two adults and at the time were in our late 40's. We went this past October and went as Woody and Jessie again. This year my stepson (22) was joining us and wanted to go as Buzz. We all had a great time. My DH wore denim shorts instead of jeans. My DSS wore shorts and a tank under his costume. A few times when he got warm he pulled the top of the costume down so he had his white tank on.

We had the BEST time. Everyone was taking pictures of us. I had a smile on my face the whole night. One of our best time in WDW - besides our wedding. We got some great pictures with Buzz and with Woody and Jessie. I would definately recommend dressing up. We went back to the MK a few nights later and some of the CM we had spoken to remembered us.

I will post some pictures when I get them loaded in photobucket. The picture below is from a few years ago.

We have gone to MNSSHP twice and looking at going again this year. The first year the adults just wore Halloween T-Shirts and the kids dressed up.
The second year it was my DM, DD 6, and I. My DM dressed as a pirate with a fake parrot sewn on top of her shirt. DD was Cindy and I was her Fairy Godmother. We got so many compliments and had such a great time.

At night it was fairly cool tempatures. We went both times around Sept. 20th and it was nice once the sun went down. The humidity is what gets me the most and it wasn't bad either.

OK - I have two in photobucket. Definately dress up. It is so worth it if you are going to go to the party.

Cute idea!! Cool and comfy is what I am going for :thumbsup2

This is what we wore last September. It was super hot and humid so I didn't want to wear uncomfortable costumes. The boys wore their soccer uniforms, I wore my "soccer mom" shirt and dd and dh wore referree costumes. Not really soccer ref costumes, but it looked cute anyway :)

I just went to the face painting at DTD and wore a witches hat and cape with my shorts. Not hot at all!
