MNSSHP Costume Clarification

I'm not a tink lookalike or anything but I am tiny...and I have Blonde hair....Well I guess I'll just have to see what happens...maybe a change of clothes in the back pack just in case.....

don't worry.... Tink never appears in the parks except when she flies over the MK before the fireworks (doesn't appear for autographs or pictures), so I don't think you will have any problems.

I have LOVED reading all these stories! I love Halloween and this will be my first MNSSHP and I plan on dressing up. At first I was thinking simple, I work in an operating room so scrubs are easy to pack, comfortable, and very authentic. Then I thought about dressing up as Sally from NBC but I don't want to be turned away, and I don't want to look like everyone else there! Then it was suggested to me that I should go as a greek goddess or something, and Megera jumped into my head. Now I'm not sure at all!

I need costume help! Can anyone think of a large Disney character my DH could go as? He's 6'7" and 300 pounds, any ideas?

Thanks - see ya there the 26th @ MNSSHP!

Lots of great ideas here! I am not exactly sure what we are going as this year. My friend who lives in FLA is going to check out Wal-Mart, and a costume shop that opened up near her. I saw a "greek goddess" costume in Wal-mart last year that looked just like Megara's from Hercules. My friend is going to look for that one, and I'll go as either Mulan or Sleeping Beauty (in a purple gown, so no mistake there !:D ) Being a blonde with Irish complexion & blue eyes, I don't think I would have a problem being Mulan, even if I wore the wig (which I bought recently).

I did notice many people dressed up last year, but I was not paying a great deal of attention. I thought anyone who might have problems would be those wearing masks. I beleive the letter that comes with the tickets says no to wearing masks.

Tomorrow I shall call Eisner's office to get an official response, but here is my story.
I would recommend, if you want to get in touch with someone at Disney, you try contacting the President of the WDW resort. There is a list of names at the top of the Rumors & News Forum. When I was having a BIG problem obtaining info for guests with disabilities, i wrote a letter to Mr. Weiss, and got an immediate response. If you are not sure about your particular situation, mmausse, you might want to try this route. Hope to see you on the 31st!

Eeyore...Thanks for your response...I'm hoping that all will be okay....Well, I'm going to bring a change of clothes just in case....I would hate to get to the magic Kingdom and have a hassle..so better to be prepared.... :)

I don't think that's very nice to say that when you just heard from a previous poster first hand their experience. You are basically calling them a liar!

First off Beattyfamily, I was not calling Skiwee1 a liar, nor was I calling anyone a liar. I was simply saying that the "stories" of people being turned away at the gates for looking like the characters were just that "stories" I was referring to the OP's question about looking like Disney Characters in the Park, not Jack from Nightmare or any other "scary" costume, I was even thinking or talking about him. I was talking about the Princesses and such (read my op).

Skiwee1, sorry you thought I was referring to you, I was not. I was talking to the OP about dressing like Princesses and other Disney Characters, not scary outfits (i have no doubt this guy was turned away, but not for looking too much like a Disney Park Character, but because it was too scary or hazardous or whatever) The OP asked about dressing like the characters in the park and that is what I was talking about, you know like Cinderella or Aurora or Cruella, those you usually see in the park. Hope that clarifies what I was saying, I truly didn't even read your entire post, I just skimmed, must have been my ADHD :)

Well, it certainly appeared that way to me. Your post about it being 'stories' came right after Skiwee1's post about first-hand experiences with people being turned away looking too much like a Disney character. She said she saw a Disney character, Jack, get turned away for looking too authentic. You responded right after her's with your opinion that they are just 'stories'. Skiwee1 read your post the same way I did.

Sorry if you took such offense to my defense of Skiwee1 but it certainly appeared to me, and Skiwee1, that you were calling her a liar. That may not have been your intend, but that is how it appeared to us.

I was not being "nasty", "mean", "presumptious" or "rude" as you said in your PM to me regarding my response to your post about it just being 'stories'. I defended a fellow Diser that's all. I didn't call you any names or insult you.

I guess you need to be more clear the next time you post??

I dressed up as Mulan last year wearing the costume purchased from TDS website. I didn't have any problems. I also so a ton of adults dressed up like characters. One man was wearing a Sulley costume....while he wasn't as large as the "real" Sulley...lots of kids sure thought he was the real thing!!

Perhaps our paths did cross in '97 - I am anxious to talk with anyone who may have seen me at WDW - I enjoy the feedback and any suggestions. I am trying to figure out how to post my picture as Maleficent, so people can see what I am talking about.

I have written a letter to Mr. Weiss' office including a photo of me in-costume, to get the real "skinny" on Halloween. Since I have not had problems in the past, I am not anticipating any now, but I agree with Baloo, too many people have spent far too much money in support of their costumes, only to be turned away at the door. Whatever I hear from Mr. Weiss, hopefully in writing, I'll post so that if anyone has any problems, they can whip out the letter and show it to any CMs.

I am SOOOOOOO looking forward to the 31st - I can't wait to meet other DISers and take pictures of everyone as their "alter egos" LOL:Pinkbounc

I think I'll post a question as to how to include a picture in my signature block.

I don't go to MNSSHP for Halloween; I'm usually over at Pleasure Island. I heard the rule over there is NO Disney character costumes whatsoever... I always assumed that 's because Disney would prefer that guests don't observe their favorite characters getting snockered.

This thread is the first time I've heard about a concern over Disney character costumes anywhere else... but if you don't look too authentic you probably have nothing to worry about.

For the big guy looking for a Disney costume... does he do bears? How about Baloo or Little John? And there's always Sully, like someone just mentioned...
