Hi, fizz13, I have got to
MNSSHP for a few years now... And I am a costumer by trade. I teach at a few local middle and high schools, and have a few tricks I teach the kids.
This year my DS, 14, desided 2 nights before we were to leave for WDW that he wanted to be Zorro... and it had to be "correct" so between the thrift stores and several watching of the movie, thats what we did. I went as the "night sky" or "fireworks", depending on who was looking at the outfit and what they desided... I used an old black T and black jeans and 1/2 yard of a novelty fabric that has iridencent stars printed on a black knit that I cut and attached to the T and jeans from the bottom of one leg, up to the opposite shoulder and down my back. I then added glitter fabric paint, and rinestones... Fun, washable, fast, cheap and I have worn it a few times to other parties.
Anyway, if you have an idea of what you might like, IM or message me or something and I will try and think of a way you can pull it off. Do you sew at all?
We got to be MNSSHP Grand Marshalls one night, along with 30 others... cause of DS's Zorro costume... some of the other people picked were dressed as Wilma and Betty. And a family from England that had long capes and long skirted dresses that had battery operated lights on them. The CM really like them! And it was raining that night farily heavly and the lights still worked...
Also check out the local
WalMart fabric section or a fabric store and look in the back of the pattern books at the costumes. From now to June is a good time to get "fancy" fabric on sale. Also thrift shops have a ton of old formals, suits and stuff that is easily altered even if you don't sew! And check out Movies, history books and stuff for ideas.
Hope that this helps...
